Shelly in IL
for your language program? My husband gets it free, is it good enough for h.s. language?
ReneTL
I would certainly take advantage of the free program. Do you have access to the Homeschool version? That will track progress, time spent, etc. We have been using it with my young girls this year and they are progressing nicely through level 1. I only require 15 minutes a day from them and we haven't done the writing supplements that go along with the program. At this point in the game, they are mainly learning vocabulary. Since the program goes through level 3, I would certainly think it would give a good foundation and the grammar would come later. You could set a goal for them to get through all 3 levels their 1st year, then supplement with a tutor, speaking club, etc.
readwithem
You bet. My dd's transcript has 4 years of French, the first 2 of which were RS. She was accepted everywhere she applied with generous merit scholarships, including a top 20 LAC. I don't think RS hurt her transcript one bit. :)
Storm Bay
I'd use it for part of my program if it's the second version, which is what we have, due to the limited grammar instruction. Apparently the third edition has more grammar. Dd is using RS level 2 of the second version along with a separate grammar book.
