Jmac
What would you recomend for an 8th grader that wants to start Koine Greek. The only curriculum I know of is Mounce's which is what I use in college. I am pretty sure Rosetta Stone has a Koine Greek program but man that is expensive! In The Great White North
My church started a Greek class and used this book: http://www.amazon.com/Greek-Me-J-Lyle-Story/dp/159160222X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268614703&sr=1-1 The author also sells a DVD and workbook to go with it. http://www.greektome.biz/resources.php
Quad Shot Academy
I know of two programs: Hey Andrew You would start with level 3 for an older student. Elementary Greek
Jenn in CA
Esp. if he/she has experience w/Latin. One of my boys used it in 8th grade but had been studying Latin since 5th and worked in Athenaze in 6th-7th. Hey Andrew or Elem. Greek would be good intro materials to use for a year before going to Mounce in 9th. I'm not sure how far you get in Elem. Greek but I'd be interested to know. Hey Andrew, you would definitely need to continue on w/something else after completing all 6 levels. If you want to skip the Intro materials and use Mounce in 8th, I think that would still be very doable. Maybe plan to go slowly. Mounce has so many helps such as audio files, vocabulary software, etc. that I really think it is easy to use.
Alphabetika
Yes, try Elementary Greek! It's very well laid-out and easy to use, and it would be a perfect intro. My 11yo is using it while she gets old and mature enough to take high school level Greek with Lukeion Project, where they teach Attic Greek using Athenaze.
