JaniceO
I have read the requirements, but not sure how they can be interpreted. I do not have 45 college credits, but my husband does. Would that count even if I'm the one that will be homeschooling? What if he will be deployed some of the time? If that doesn't count, how do I meet one of the other requirements? If I am able to homeschool my children, we would be arriving in October. Is that too late to find one of the courses to take? Also, do they offer umbrella type programs that I could register with? I would appreciate any help I can get on this. There aren't any rules or regulations where I am currently, so it's difficult to get in the mindset that I'll have to follow rules, lol. I believe it's one of the parents if a married couple. I'm saying that off the top of my head; no research into it.
Jean in Newcastle
Your husband's college degree/credits count. He doesn't have to do a lick of homeschooling either. If you arrive in October, I don't think you even have to register as homeschoolers for that year since the deadline is Sept. 15 but perhaps someone else could answer that. How old are your kids? If they are over 8, you would sign up for testing in the spring/summer (most use the SATs around here) or you could have a certified teacher review a portfolio of your kid's work. A great source of information is the Washington Homeschoolers Organization: http://www.washhomeschool.org/ Welcome to the Northwest!
JaniceO
I am SO happy to hear that! My DH will have his Bachelor's degree come June and I've only had a small amount of college. I don't mind the testing, as my DH likes us to do that anyway. Thank you so much for the responses.
