hsmom3tn
If someone was going to purchase this book and read it for the first time, which edition do you recommend and why?
Mrs Mungo
I would get the most recent one. It suggests books that have come out since the first or second printing. The older editions suggest books that are out of print, the newer edition will have replacement suggestions for those books.

fishmummy
I agree with the most recent edition. It recommends materials that were not available at the earlier publishing. Of course, if you can borrow it from a friend, then let her borrow whatever copy is available. Something is better than nothing....also try the library. wendy
Heather in WI
Yep, buy the newest one for the reasons above. :-)
hsmom3tn
Thanks, I usually assume that the most recent edition would be the best to purchase; but I saw the other thread about the latest edition missing a particular list or something and it made me wonder... Crimson Wife
The 3rd edition has a chapter in the appendix listing previous recommendations and why SWB decided to change them.
