Miss Marple
Ds has received a rather large scholarship from an industry "club". It is a continuing scholarship based on GPA and course load (hours). Each semester he has to submit grades and a class schedule for the next semester. He has received this 3 times so far (distributed per semester). It is paid directly to the school in ds's name (straight into the bursar account). Each time it has arrived just after the tuition deadline necessitating a reimbursement check from the university. This semester the check still has not arrived. Ds has emailed a couple of times without any response. In the past, responses have occurred within a few hours. It has been days. Would you: 1. Place a phone call 2. keep e-mailing 3. any suggestions ??? Ds feels bad e-mailing or calling because it seems like begging to him. I understand how he feels, but think there might be something going on with the "man in charge". If you've had similar experiences, how did you handle it? We had Taz's assigned financial aid counselor contact the organization directly via phone & letter. The funds appeared 3 weeks later. Tap
Is it possible for you to stop in and talk to someone in person. Having a face to go with a situation can make things go much more smoothly. Hope you find it in the mail Monday :D
Miss Marple
Not sure what happened, but we sent a follow-up e-mail in which we asked if there were a "problem" with the scholarship. We also attached the previous e-mails sent as well as the one in which ds attached current schedule and past grades. This e-mail got attention. The check is supposed to be in the mail. I just wish that these scholarship check writers would realize that some students cannot make the payments unless the checks arrive *before* the tuition deadline and are therefore assessed late fees. We are, thankfully, in a position to pay the tuition and take the check as reimbursement, but it becomes messy with the paperwork. But we are certainly grateful for the scholarships! With 3 more kids to go, every bit is a blessing.
