christine in al
Don'T waste your time reading this unless you are considering buying a product from Manic Monkey. There were a few folks looking at this French program and Kleine Hex, i think you said something about the German version. Well, we splurged and got the French version. The program seems really good , but dealing with the company Manic Monkey. has been a total nightmare. very little communication, shipping very high from the UK, I asked about that and was told by Rich Butler that the 23 GBP was automatic for larger orders for schools and things. That my shipping would be 14 GBP, He would refund my money. hasn't happened yet ( bought product in Nov.) I keep emailing them. product finally arrived. The teacher's manual is completely marked up because someone was using it as a draft to create a Parent's edition. It is full of highlighting and notes to re word things for parents. So, not a new book. certainly a new price. He says he'll send a new one, hasn't arrived. I've even tired 3 times calling them in England, busy signal. crummy, crummy service. ~christine in al
Jen500
Thanks for the head up. Is there some reason you ordered directly from manic monkey and not book depository? So is the cd-rom only for pcs and not Mac? What age do you think petit pont would be best for? Thanks, and sorry to hear you're having bad customer service. :tongue_smilie:
christine in al
I ordered directly from Manic Monkey because it looked to me like BD didn't have something I wanted. I can't remember now. It may have been teacher's guide. I THINK the cd-Rom plays on both Mac and PC, (PC here) I did call England this AM , very nice on the phone. and got an email back saying the refund for overpayment of shipping was put through, I havent' checked yet. I burned up some of that refund in the call, but I'm pretty irritated. My 7 year old likes the program. If she finishes it and has learned lots, we may even get the second level. I like the teacher's guide. I had French WAY back in elementary , so I need the help. How do you like Hooked on French? Can a non-speaker help her young-uns with it? What age is working for you? ~chrsitine in al
EmilyK
I emailed them a while ago about cheaper shipping on the German program, and they never responded, but this makes me understand that maybe that's typical for the company!

It's very basic, definitely could be used by a non French speaker. No writing or grammar, just learning numbers, colors, some phrases etc. He's just doing it for fun, and he likes the computer.
