What do they cover? And if my k'ner is almost finished with ETC book 2, should I get book 2 or 3 of BTC or do I still start with book 1? Thank you! DS has finished ETC 3 and is slowly working through 5 (put 4 aside) and BTC 2 is a good fit for him. It is excellent practice for reading, because it targets material he knows. He can read harder stuff but makes mistakes and guesses more. I like that it incorporates writing practice too, as this is a big weakness of his. KristenS Posted February 1, 2010 Share Posted February 1, 2010 We're doing kind of the same thing. Beyond is for reading comprehension, and for us, BTC 1 fits really well after ETC 3. It doesn't seem to have a teacher's guide, like ETC does, so there are a few times when a question will puzzle us, but we just discuss those, and I figure that's what comprehension is about anyway. :) My son likes it for the change of pace. KarenNC Posted February 1, 2010 Share Posted February 1, 2010 We tried BTC, but honestly felt like it was not worth the price for the content at that stage, at least for us. We did quite well with leveled readers, etc from the library. Definitely it is not set up to be done with the same level of ETC, but at least a couple of level numbers lower.
