About taking a meal to elderly friends--balance of healthy & comfort food?

Recommended Posts

I need to bring some dinners to an elderly couple. I am good at "comfort foods" and BIG meals.

What they need is small, simpler meals, and probably more awareness (on my part, not theirs) of reducing empty starches and fats.

With those parameters in mind, what would you bring?

ETA: I'm sure I could give this some thought and come up with some good ideas, but I don't wanna think today, kwim?

My friend's g-parents use to "split" those meals for seniors that you order. So, I'd think "normal portion plus a bit" split in half, for portion size. (except a roll or some bread for each, if you're taking rolls.) Of course, if you take whole wheat products, that's the "right kind of carbo" for anyone:-)

And... if they have dentures... perhaps think "soft". Veggies that are cooked the way you use to.... (like canned).

Nice of you!

:-)
