RainbowSprinkles
Has anyone ever tried this? My kids will be in 3rd and 1st next year. I had planned on doing just American History for the next 2 years. But I love history so much, I would love to also do World History alongside of it, starting with ancient times. Is it doable? What were your experiences, if you have done this before? What did your history schedule look like? Would it be too much to do both?
Donna A.
Charlotte Mason did both world and her home country simultaneously. Take a look at http://www.amblesideonline.org A Charlotte Mason Education and More Charlotte Mason Education by Catherine Levison will be helpful, too. VaKim
We do this, and always have. We use TruthQuest history, one guide for U.S., and another one for world. Currently, we are finishing up the middle ages for world, and just starting the 20th century in U.S. We just treat it as two separate "subjects," and do what comes next in each. It has worked out really well, and we have been able to take our time and not rush through, like I would have felt we needed to if we'd only done world or U.S. alone. My Father's World does them together as they occur chronologically -- so not American & Ancients. Oh, and not for little ones.

robsiew
I think you could reasonably do both... maybe you do 2 days a week World and 2 days a week American. Depending on how you do history, for us it would be a lot to try and do both each day. Or, you could do 1/2 year World and 1/2 year American... Kfamily
We do American History 1X per week and World History 2X per week. Charlotte Mason has both national and world history and if you look at the PNEU years she also has ancient history separated out too as you reach the upper grades.
