Hot Lava Mama
What is the first book for both of these series? I know "The Hobbit" is the starter for the Lord of the Rings, but then which one is next? Hot Lava Mama

Lori D.
side note regarding Lord of the Rings: The 3 books of the trilogy which follow The Hobbit are quite a big jump in reading level (themes, vocabulary, writing style, etc.). You could try the Lord of the Rings trilogy as a read aloud with a 5th grader, but as solo readers... I think a student would enjoy the trilogy a lot more in late middle school/high school. In fact, if you wait until then, you can also consider doing the fabulous year-long literature program Literary Lessons from the Lord of the Rings! ;) Enjoy! Warmest regards, Lori D.
