sandellie4
I have several overripe bananas that I would like to use later for muffins, etc. If I run them through the blender, can I then freeze them in the quantities I need? Is there anything I can do so they don't turn really brown? Sandy
Ravin
Yes, you can freeze them. It's easier if you peel them first. If you're using them for baking, it doesn't really matter if they turn brown.
Anne
You can freeze them whole (peeled), or you can freeze them in recipe-ready batches. I've never found the browning to be a problem - usually the other ingredients cover up whatever browning occurs. Anne
sandellie4
Thank you both -- I didn't want to waste them! Sandy
BikeBookBread
The minute mine turn mushy, I throw them into the freezer whole. If I'm feeling ambitious, I peel them first and toss them in a ziplock. I use them for banana bread, smoothies (which are BETTER when the bananas are frozen) or any other baked item that requires mashed bananas.
