Kate in Arabia
A local friend is writing a program for a ceremony, he's wanting it in Arabic and English. At the ceremony there will be some kids/girls giving flowers, like you do sometimes for a visiting dignitary, etc. In Arabic the term sounds kind of elegant, but he's having a hard time coming up with an English equivalent. I could only think of "flower girl", which is cute but not particularly elegant/poetic. Is there another term for a child/girl who bestows flowers? TIA! Dobela
Flower Maiden? Is there a reason why he doesn't want to use the Arabic version? If it sounds elegeant and makes the role feel more special, It could be the best choice. not everything has to be translated to English.
