woolybear
We have the Sonlight Markable Maps. The dry erase markers (I've tried several different brands) don't easily come off. Unless we wipe them off immediately, I have needed to use something like Soft Scrub to get them clean again. Any suggestions? This doesn't seem how it should work. Perhaps someone can suggest another brand of dry erase marker? Thank you. Woolybear
nukeswife
When I've bought them from SL, they came with wet erase markers, like Vis-a-Vis. I've never had problems when we used those.
sleepymommy
Yes, the wet erase markers, like vis-a-vis, are the best thing to use on markable maps. I bought a set (forgot which dealer, not sonlight) and he also said to be certain to use the wet erase kind. He also said that if you leave the dry erase on for too long it could stain the map. Not sure if that would happen with yours though.
woolybear
Oh, thank you. I've never heard of wet erase markers. Is that something you can buy at an office supply store or a crafts store? Woolybear
SonshineLearner
Vis-a-Vs? Or however you spell that..... they are the ones you use for overhead projectors. I've heard they sometimes work for wet ones.. Carrie

Woolybear Yes, you should be able to get them at office max or any other office supply place like that. Just look over where they sell overhead projectors. sleepymommy
I've also seen them at walmart, if you happen to being going that way.
nova mama
I've had this experience with several so-called dry-erasable surfaces. Magic Eraser works very well!
DarlaS
For cleaning it, try a windex wipe. It seems to take the shadowing off my dry erase board so should work for the map also. I see others have already covered the markers, but I got mine at Walmart too. :D
SonshineLearner
I've seen some whiteboard colors, too (like crayons) Carrie:-)

White toothpaste (like the only kind you used to be able to buy--- just plain "white" toothpaste) will take off all the marks! We read that online and tried it and it works like a charm!:001_smile:
