TCoppock
I placed my bread in the bread machine following directions but my bread is not rising. I'm not sure what to do. This is the first time this has ever happened and I hate to throw the entire loaf out. Is there any way of fixing this??
adams101
I don't have a bread machine, but I do have a bread starter. When mine won't rise, usually because I haven't used it in a while, I put the dough in a warm, moist place. I've put it in the oven with just the light on, or in the laundry room with the dryer going. You can also put a cake pan with hot water in the oven to help. You can put it outside in the sun, but you have to be careful with bugs and ants. HTH
OH Kim
Sorry, if the bread isn't rising, the yeast is dead. There are some "tricks" that sometimes work, but the resulting bread tastes nasty. Better to proof the yeast before you start the next one to be sure it's alive and throw this one out. In a bread machine, I know they're all "do everything perfectly or the machine will explode" but I've found that adding the yeast to the water and sweetener (if it's not honey) and letting them set together for about 5 minutes is usually enough proofing. TCoppock
Thanks so much! I will try and warm mine a little and see if it works. :001_smile:
kalanamak
Thanks so much! I will try and warm mine a little and see if it works. :001_smile: The top of the hotwater heater, in a thick ceramic bowl, greased and covered with a moist towel does wonders at my house. Same place for yogurt.
