For Art (Picture) Study:

We used to follow AO and SimplyCharlotteMason.com and finding living books about artists at our local libraries, but now

we use library books and this free program manual (that you can download and save), it is called Meet the Masters http://www.getinvolvedineducation.com/pdfs/For-Program-Managers/Meet-the-Masters-Program-Manual.pdf

or the same program that you pay money for at:

http://www.meetthemasters.com/homeschool/index.html

For Art:

We use the Art Basics for Children: ABCs of Art by Visual Manna, it is recommended at www.livingbookscurriculum.com in their Charlotte Mason curriculum.

or another option we be to use the ideas/videos/techniques taught by Harmony Arts Mom on her blog http://harmonyartmom.blogspot.com/

or better yet the actual curriculum packets at Harmony Fine Arts.

Most importantly, have fun!

We use the "Meet the Masters" program for art appreciation. My daughter loves it. We just add the Charlotte Mason approach, which is for her to study the paintings and gather details to explain what she thinks the artist is trying to convey with his or her work. I read, "The Charlotte Mason Companion Guide" which had a chapter describing her approach to art.

We also use "Artistic Pursuits" for our art projects. This program includes art projects with some art appreciation as well.

Hope you find just the right program for you! :001_smile:

Are you sure those are the same programs? They look different to me? If you can tell me how to make the free one work like the paid one that would be awesome!! It looks to me like the free one covers more artists and does a compare/contrast of two paintings at a time. Which is fine but I think the part I am worried about is trying to figure out which mediums to use for the kids' art projects when they are studying each artist. How do you do it?
