KLynnTX
They are about 3 months old now. Nobody is crowing. Some look a little different, like bigger, more masculine, etc., but I can't tell anything for sure. Would they be crowing by now? Or is there anything else that would give me a clue? I'm really hoping for all girls, or at the least, just one rooster. Thanks!
lllll
My 16yod says to look for "pointed feathers". The males' feathers are more pointed, esp. "hackles and tails". Otherwise, they wait until the crowing starts. :)
kokotg
You can't tell for sure until they crow, but, yeah, roosters have pointy hackle feathers (and their combs grow faster, if they're all the same breed). I'm trying to remember when our supposed-to-be-a-hen started crowing--4 months, maybe?
inactive
He was born/hatched in April/May...and he is crowing. (Well, not really crowing -- he kind of sounds like a boy going through puberty...) His comb is MUCH larger than the hens. He is a Barred Rock cross with ??
