Aileen E.
I'll be starting formal lessons with a soon to be 6yo in the fall. I've chosen Saxon as our program for math, but I'm not sure if I should start with K or Math 1. We didn't do any formal Pre-school or Kindergarten, just some math games, counting, grouping, number recognition, days of the week, etc., all very informal. Is Saxon Math K a prerequisite for Saxon Math 1?
cathmom
no just start with
TwinMominTX
I would go with Saxon 1 and plan on taking your time if necessary. Saxon K is really tedious and moves very slowly. You'll be fine with Saxon 1. We've enjoyed Saxon and while I know others will disagree we do everything - meetings, calendar, lessons and all the worksheets. My twins love Saxon and I really enjoy teaching it.
Aileen E.
Thank you. Will do!
kckamy
I agree with going with Saxon 1. I used Saxon K for preschool and felt that it would have been too easy for Kindergarten. I love Saxon but have always used it a year ahead. Amy
JudoMom
I would start with 1, but I would give the placement test from Saxon before I ordered.
freeindeed
Start with 1. I purchased K for my ds, but wish I hadn't. If you've done math games, counting, etc., then you've already covered the material in Saxon K.:)
