Tracy in Ky
Just wondering if we really have to do Zoology 1 before doing Zoology 2? Dd9 really wants to do Swimming Creatures, but we haven't done Flying Creatures. Does anyone have any advise for me?:) Tracy
HollyDay
We had no problem with it.
Tracy in Ky
Oh, thank you so much, Holly. I am so glad to hear that. I'll order it and we'll just have fun with it. Thank you! Tracy
homeschoolmom4
We also did Swimming Creatures first and did not have a problem. Swimming Creatures is a fun book. We extended our study throughout the book with videos and extra projects.:001_smile:
TXMary2
You don't have to do Zoo 1 beforehand, but I would do the first chapter of Zoo 1 which is Classification. You can get that chapter free on the authors website.

TracyR
Yes you can. We started with Zoology 2 this year. We also have the other books so we will back track a little this school year.
herbalgirl
We're also starting this very soon without the prereq. Thanks for the mention of having the classification chapter free on the site! :D
leaird
You can do the Apologia Elementary books in any order that you wish. The first chapter of Zoology 1 covers Kingdoms, Phylums, Classes, Orders, Families, Genus, Species in the first chapter. If you started with Zoology 3, you would miss out on that lesson. However, you can download the entire chapter at http://tinyurl.com/npcnk3. If the thought of missing out on the explanation for the classification of animals bothers you, just download the chapter and cover it before starting Swimming Creatures. Problem solved! stephanie78
I am so glad you asked this question! I have been wondering this myself. I really don't think Zoology 1 would be very appealing to my daughter, but really want to use the second two books with her.
Tracy in Ky
I ordered this yesterday. I'm excited to begin using it. Christian Books.com had it for $10 cheaper than Apologia website, and they had reasonable shipping. Also, you can print notebook pages from Apologia's website to go along with it.
