TravelingChris
Can you all tell me what texts, books or materials you used for government 1/2 credit course? I don't need online options since I will be facilitating this course in a co-op but am looking for good material. I am considering The Complete Idiot's Guide to American Government with plenty of current events and maybe field trips since we are 9 miles from the US Congress, Supreme Court and WH. Kareni
Here's an older thread that you might find of interest: What are you using for 1 semester American Gov't next year? Regards, Kareni
creekland
No experience as of yet, but since I've really liked their American and World History courses, I'm planning on using Notgrass next year. Notgrass is Christian material... so may or may not be suitable for your situation.
Nan in Mass
My son did some political activism, our church's teen political activism program, followed the election and voted, listened to about half the TC tapes on government, and read Idiot's, three Uncle Eric's, and the most of the foundation documents. Systems of government came up during geography and gret books also. Idiot's acted as the glue for the rest of the mishmash. I sat down with several US gov books at Borders thinking that perhaps one of the shorter ones would serve, but as usual, TWTM rec was just the right level. He liked reading The Idiot's Guide. He learned something from it but still found it fairly quick and entertaining. -Nan
