Cricket
This would be for my ds8. (Ds11 will probably read them as well.) I want to take a few weeks off during the summer but I'm scared to stop math altogether. (They forget *everything*!) It would be nice to do something different. Any other suggestions? Hathersage
Have you seen the reader lists here: http://www.livingmath.net/
Capt_Uhura
Definitely check out http://www.livingmath.net as well as the yahoogroup. We did "A Grain of Rice" by Pittman today and had great fun. I will spend this summer doing more living books for math. Another book that is in narrative form is "The Great Number Rumble." Today we also read "The Grizzley Gazette" a book about percentages. Cricket
Thank you! This website looks like a very good resource. Exactly what I was looking for!
PeterPan
You might also look at the math olympiad books from http://www.artofproblemsolving.com Also Challenge Math and Primary Challenge Math by Zaccaro, the latter of which would work for your ds8. Playing games and doing out of the box stuff is a good way to keep the math fresh but not workbooky.
