Bambam
I've been searching for new water bottles for some time. I finally decided on the Klean Kanteen but was somewhat disappointed in the color availability (dull IMO). This site has custom colors. I ordered the red (popping) and the purple which is just lovely. Now we won't look like everyone else at park day! http://www.silvercreekoutdoor.com/product-p/k27pps.htm I received them before the two week period they indicated custom colors would take. Their communication was excellent as well.
Kareni
Thanks for sharing ... I hadn't known there were color options. Regards, Kareni
i.love.lucy
So far, do you like them? Do they make your water taste like metal? A friend said hers does, but I'm not sure it's a KK. Can you freeze some water in it? I cracked 2 of mine just the other day by freezing some small amount of water in them - yes the top was off - so we are on a hunt for good water bottles for summer. I don't want to spend a fortune, especially if they might get stolen or lost. I also don't want them to sweat, but it's impossible for them not to. Even the insulated ones do it, and they are too bulky. Guess I haven't found the perfect water bottle. :tongue_smilie:

Kareni
Can you freeze some water in it? The directions say not to freeze. We froze one that did crack. I have two others that I continue to freeze with no bad result (well, other than the now rounded bottoms which make them tip on a flat surface!). If you're going to attempt freezing, I suggest tilting them in the freezer. The one that cracked was upright at the time. SonshineLearner
Gosh, Thanks for recommending us! We started selling Klean Kanteens because I love them so much. Glad that you like the "kustom Kolors":-) Whoever said that the buttons on the totes break... don't work...well..we don't unsnap them...so that they don't break. You can kinda turn them down. I do like the totes for going out, but around home...and before they had totes, I use to take a clean sock that I had lost the match to...and cut off the bottom...and slip it over the bottle. I used the 12 ounce bottles all the time when my son was little.... and you can use the sippies with those...or the Avent Bottle nipples, too. Thanks Again! Carrie:-)
cillakat
For fun colors and prints, here are some of my favorite stainless steel bottles: http://www.nubiusorganics.com/Reusable-Bottles-amp-Mugs-C1.aspx http://www.earthlust.com/products.html http://www.greenbottleonline.com/shop/--Cherry_Blossoms.html http://www.ecousable.com/ Of the above, I like the ecousable the best. The sport top doesn't leak (my KK sport tops leak) and the clip is great. When we took the screw tops off, we used the ring to hook onto the collar of the sport top. They also have a padded bottom so it's not so loud. Not as pretty but this is an amazing double walled bottle that never sweats and keeps water ice cold: http://www.thermos.com/Product_detail.aspx?CatCode=THER&SubcategoryID=1&ProductID=282 This is the same bottle but in a better shape. The cabela's logo is unfortunate but I've seen it locally at coffee shops with no logo: http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0020844515511a.shtml :) Katherine Edited May 30, 2009 by cillakat
westcoastmom
So far, do you like them? Do they make your water taste like metal? If the water tastes like metal it is because the stainless steel has nickel in it which leaches into the water. It is better to buy bottles that don't leach nickel. Guest stayatworkdad
I wondered about the steel myself because my kids all drink from klean kanteens. Since I pretend to be an engineer by day, I decided to check it out. The Klean Kanteens are made from 304 Stainless Steel (also known as 18/8....18% Chromium and 8% Nickel). This is typical for all 300 series stainless steels and does not typically affect the taste of the water. I like my klean kanteens and haven't noticed that they change the flavor of the water. I do notice that if I forget to clean it for a while it tastes funny, but I think that's just from the water getting stale.:tongue_smilie:
cillakat
I've had a total of 1e stainless water bottles....6 KK's, 2 ecousables (my favorite), one guyot, 3 thinksport (love), and one thermos hydration (wonderful)3 Of those, one KK did make the water taste metalic. It was wierd and isolated to that one bottle. Katherine
