iwka
What age is suggested for starting Cambridge Latin? What would you do before that with younger kids? Thanks
Laura Corin
Cambridge was designed to start from around age 11 or 12 (I was in one of the early classes to use it in the UK in the 70s). Later, Minimus was introduced as a precursor, but it's not necessary to do it: Cambridge assumes no previous knowledge. Personally, I find it easier, as a non-specialist, to teach from a more grammar-focused programme, rather than Cambridge, but YMMV. Best wishes Laura
Peela
The class we started Cambridge in had some 9 year olds and I think some 9 year olds would be capable of starting Cambridge at home, as long as you didn't have a preconceived idea of a fast pace. It can be done quite slowly and still be engaging, because the stories are interesting.
