  1. I am living with 4 guys here and all but my ds5, who is very good at finding things, have testosterone blindness.

Your post sounds soooooo familiar to me! I am glad I am not the only one who lives this life.

I will cook a meal before I go out, put it in a plastic container and tell hubby I made dinner for him and the kids. I come home to find out my work was in vain. He says, oh we had hot dogs (which he could find in the disorganized freezer) because we could not find the thing you made. Excuses! Excuses! (he just wanted an excuse to make hot dogs).

  2. History is at the center of our education. This means the LA and sometimes science are covered through the study of history.

All of language arts is covered through history. Writing, reading (fluency and ability), dictation, narration, and copy work are all done on history based literature. We follow the WTM using SOTW and the recommended extra reading. Spelling and phonics are covered when we read aloud (phonics) and write (spelling).

The only things that are not related to our history program are arithmetic and foreign language. Although, Latin does have historical relevance. We even from time to time have been able to tie science to history.

    Does this answer your questions?

  3. I am a pencil and pen stealer. I come home with pens from the store, bank etc. I feel so bad! I just forget and put them in my purse or pocket.

Now at home, I am always laying them around everywhere. The are never where I remember them to be! I do not do this on purpose - I just forget to put them back. When I straighten up the house, I usually find them and put them back.

I suspect someone in your home is a pencil "thief" like me. I think it is a personality trait. My ds9 seems to be following in my foot steps, he can never find his pencils either!

  4. My kids are still little so we usually do not sing much Tom Petty but Veggie Tales and kids bible songs are big around here. Once one of the kids starts singing the song, (usually only about one line) the rest of us are stuck singing it for the day. By the end of the day, we are ready to whack each other!

Find a copy and play the song, this might help him get rid of it.

  5. I get very nauseated and very bad reflux when I eat any dairy products. I use to be able to take heartburn medication but since I am pregnant I do not want to take the risk.

I miss pizza:(!! Does anyone have any good recipes/tips for nondairy pizza? I have tried some of those soy cheeses in the past but I have not found any that work well and some have casein still gives me heartburn.

I would appreciate any suggestions or recipes!

    Thanks!

  6. If she sleeps late, this would contribute to the insomnia.

I would stop the inhalers as a test just to see.

After reading your post, I did some research on the internet and found a few sites that list insomnia as a side effect of Pulmicort. I believe it is a steroid which can cause insomnia and hyperactivity in some people.

I hope things get better for you Janna!

    It is a great program!

We now are able to participate through our HS co-op. I think the first year though, we just applied through the website without a group.

  8. I read an article on an allergy website a few weeks ago that said that digestive allergies like to dairy or soy, are a different type of immune reaction than that of an environmental or say peanut allergy that cause anaphylaxis.

I would encourage you check out this website. Although the article talks about babies, I have many of the symptoms described.

  9. My reflux is caused by an allergy to milk. Once I removed dairy from my diet, no more heartburn/nausea! My ds 5 is allergic to eggs and this gives him an upset stomach also. There are many foods that can cause these symptoms with no dermatological reactions.

I would avoid baking soda, as it can alter your stomach pH and cause other problems for him.

  10. If you saute some butter or olive oil, the swiss chard and some mushrooms. until cooked. Then add some chopped garlic, saute garlic until you smell the garlic. Remove from heat and add the cheese of your choice.

I use this as a side dish or add it to scrambled eggs. You can also add it to soups and casseroles like spinach just make sure you remove the stem it can be crunchy.
