  1. It’s from an old shampoo commercial. It isn’t that old is it?
  2. Just keep them up! We have a Halloween ghost or two that are getting Santa hats since they have survived all cleaning attempts so far. I think we will just decorate them for each holiday as they come.
  3. The Christmas tree and stockings are up. I spent most of the day at the doctor’s office and getting imaging done. They think I tore a muscle in my right forearm. At least it means that I can be on light duty at work. I am a bedside nurse at a small hospital and moving the patients has been quite painful while I have been waiting for my appointment.
  4. Hello everyone! I stopped in here years ago before some major life events took over most of my “me” time. Recently I decided to take back some time for self care and to check out the boards again. I can’t believe this is still going strong! It’s good to know such a wonderful group of people stayed together for so long!
  5. I don’t know that I have any wisdom, but I share your concern. My son is 13 and it is hard to see him being ready to launch in 5 years. On the other hand, he has come so far in the last couple of years. I have to believe that we will get there someday. I definitely think he has the capability. I try to keep reminding myself that we aren’t in a race. He will be ready when he is ready.
  6. I am a nurse and received my second shot on Monday. I am relieved as I work directly with Covid positive patients. Physically after the second dose I felt a little run down the next day but it could have been coming off of several night shifts in a row. I am just glad to reduce the chances that I will infect anyone in my family.
  7. Finished a training session at work. Now I’m going to relax until this evening. Date night-dinner and a movie.
  8. Thank you. I mostly like working nights. It lets me homeschool the kids but there are times I miss sleep.😁 I’m so proud and happy for your daughter. I think nursing school is one of the hardest things a person can do. It is also totally worth it. She is at the beginning of a great and fulfilling experience. I agree. Down with stuff!! We are preparing for a move. At the end of it, my family (husband and two kids) and my mother will be moving into one house with MIL. Neither mother has gone through things after the death of their spouses. So much stuff! Our mantra is purge, purge, purge! Toto, I wish we lived close enough to come to your center. It sounds wonderful!
  9. Mine was a complete surprise. I never saw myself getting married or having children before I met my husband. Now being a wife and mother seems like the most natural part of my life. On the other hand, being a nurse is also one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. However, it requires a lot of hard work on my part. I have worked hard and grown so much. It is still hard, but when I know I have made a difference it is the best feeling in the world. Reminds me of my oldest. He always screamed and yelled. Then when he was more verbal, he tearfully asked us to stop cutting pieces off of him. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
  10. Hello all! Just got home from two nights in a row and need to sleep for night number three. Toto, your daughter looks like a superhero! Amazing!! Fall weddings sound beautiful. I need to update my siggy. I forgot it was there. Please forgive any errors from my tired brain. Good night!😴
  11. We haven’t really gotten very far into Mosdos yet, so please take this with a grain of salt. What attracted me to it was that each unit focused on a facet of literature (character, plot, etc). I can’t speak to the intensity of the stories, but so far so good. The way we use it is just to read the story and then discuss the questions aloud. I preread and make notes for myself, so if there were any questionable stories I would just skip them. I know it comes with a workbook and teacher’s guide but felt that would be too much for us after looking at samples. Hope that helps.
  12. Yes. We don’t have the teacher’s book or the workbook. We just read the stories and discuss the questions/concepts. I think I just like the reassurance that I am covering all of the important concepts. If I were more confident, then I would probably just use the literature we already do alone, but right now adding this just makes me feel better.
  13. My son just painted his bedroom a similar color and it looks great!
  14. Well home from my class. I am certified for another two years. Add me to the group looking for the perfect literature curriculum. We are trying Mosdos for my youngest. I don’t know about it yet.
  15. Good morning all! I woke up too early today but it worked out since I had to drive to the far hospital for my pediatric advanced life saving certification renewal. Half way through now. Just skills practice then the test to go.
  16. Good morning! Between the time change and my own weird schedule, I fell asleep right around nine last night. I woke up frequently though, so I still feel tired. On that note, must find coffee before tackling the to do list.
  17. Well grocery shopping for our house and mil is completed. I do have other things on my to do list, but youngest wants to watch the original Karate Kid. I think it is time for quality snuggles and ‘80s music!
  18. This is so true. I have to send hubby to his room when we are doing school and he is home or nothing gets done. Poor guy.
  19. Well I survived our Sim. We saved the scary robot baby. Now I am having a quick lunch in the cafeteria before heading home. Then it is grocery shopping, laundry, and purging in preparation for our upcoming move. I hope everyone who is not feeling well has a speedy recovery and that we all adjust our sleep schedule to the time change soon.
  20. Well I guess I’m done sleeping for the night. I’m going to clean the kitchen, which I passed out before touching last night. Then shower, scrubs, and off to my Sim. Maybe if I get there early enough, I will reward myself with bacon. 😁 I think I will try to sneak in a little studying for my PALS (pediatric advanced life saving) renewal class that I have on Thursday. Hope everyone has a good start to their day.
  21. Hello! Trying to fall asleep because I have to be up early in the morning. I work nights (7pm to 7:30am), but tomorrow I have to go to our sister hospital for a Sim. I hope I can be fully awake in the morning. If the brain is not fully on then trying to figure out what is wrong with the mannequin is twice as hard. Didn’t get much accomplished today. I worked last night and then had mandatory training until 10:00. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.
  22. Fair enough. How about when I need a new, fresh form of crazy for a little variety? 😁
  23. Hello there! I visited here a long while ago before life took a series of crazy turns. I’ve been catching up a bit and was pleased to see so many familiar faces. This still seems like the happiest place on the internet. I hope to be checking in more frequently. It’s nice to know there is a friendly place to go when I need a quick break from the crazy.
  24. As an RN, I can assure that it is a physical process and has nothing to do with a person’s character.
  25. Busy day today after taking it easy with my niece’s birthday yesterday. Today is back to normal. Clean up kitchen after DH made dinner last night. Balance checkbook and pay bills. Meal plan for the rest of the pay period. Go and pay the water bill. Grocery shopping. Hopefully work on my planner for next year.
