  1. We live in the PNW as well. Blackberries were here when we moved in. We tore a ton of it out and it all came back the next year and them some. We pick as many as we can before the dog eats them. She loves them too!
  2. I have seen it on multiple sites, posted by various sources and have seen both white/gold and blue/black. All on my computer. Don't know what the deal is.
  3. Thanks for all of the input. This is a very mathy kid who loves to learn new concepts and gets things quickly. (I am not mathy whatsoever so Saxon has served us well.) If and when she goes to high school: the sequence for my older daughter was Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calc and then she went for AP Statitics because she is not a math lover. My younger one, the school has said can take higher level classes at a nearby private college during highschool but the logistics of that make me nervous. (They have to get to college and high school classes on time--not sure how preious students have made this work.) I would like for her to enter highschool at no higher than Algebra II so she is not at the college any earlier than Senior year if that is the route she wants to go. I'll see if I can get a copy of Jacob's to look at and see what we think. I do think there is time for Alg.II and at leat 2/3 of Advanced math at the rate she is going but just not sure if that is enough. They do test for math placement so maybe just keeping her moving forward is all I should worry about.
  4. Thank you for your response. I had forgotten about Jacob's being recommended. Best of luck to you as well. Lise
  5. My 7th grade daughter is about to finish Saxon Algebra 1. Is the Saxon Geometry needed if she plans on going to a brick and mortar high school? I am under the impression that she would have to go through Advanced Math to finish geometry credits if we don't do the geometry book. Is this right? Thanks for any advice.
  6. No advice, sorry. However I will be following ths thread to see what others say as we have a 7 year old English Springer Spaniel who has the issues you describe and she freaks out at the dorbell as well. She is generally calm and sweet but spooks easily.
  7. I'm thinking Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, only because' in my house, he's known as "my boyfriend") who has been featured in more than a few of my dreams!
  8. I'm back to homeschooling! (Thrilled to be back to homeschooling one of my daughters after a two year break.) Older daughter is a junior in a Catholic Prep School and the younger daughter we just pulled from a our K-8 Catholic school at her request. I didn't use to post too much but I sure learned a lot from everyone here!
  9. And, almost get caught by your children while sneaking a spoonful during the day :001_smile:
  10. Thank you all for responding. I'll have her try the online ones suggested today and look into purchasing one or more of the others in the next few days. Thanks again!
  11. Can anyone recommend a good Latin-English dictionary? My dd is not satisfied with the online versions we've found and would like to purchase one. Thank you for any and all ideas.
  12. I've been reading and not posting very often for a year or more. One of these days I'll get my posts up high enough so I can sell/swap :001_smile:
  13. I'd be there. We are secular homeschoolers but use curriculum based on quality not the religion of the vendor.
  14. We have http://http://my.villagehome.org/ here in Portland, Oregon and it is just what you are describing and wonderful. Started by a bunch of moms who wanted it to happen :)
  15. :bigear: Having a similar problem here and would love some help.
