  1. Mother in law is getting a print from The Art of Disney. It is a drawing of Mickey making Mickey pancakes. She loves Disney and always makes the kids Mickey pancakes. I hope she loves it.

Mom is getting a purse she wants plus some other stuff I haven't thought of yet.

Dad is getting art supplies and an Amazon Echo.

  4. We put them out once wrapped, whenever that happens to be. I might save a few of our wrapped gifts just to up the wow factor on Christmas morning but usually (unwrapped) Santa gifts are what appear on Christmas morning. I imagine Santa won't be around much longer here so I might change what I do once he's out of the picture.

  5. On the topic of people getting mad when you misspell the name I remember when I worked at the YMCA childcare in college. Parents signed the kids in and then we gave the kids nametags. Once I glanced at the check in and wrote a tag for Hannah. The mom was furious. He daughter's name was Hannan. She had written it in a way that definitely made it look like an h and I'd never heard the name Hannan before (or since). I remember vividly because she seemed so unnecessarily upset with me.

  6. We get a 5x7 for $15.00 when we go to the Light Up event at my alma mater university. It is more expensive at the mall. The mall here with the best Santa is expensive for one picture where SAnta spends 5 seconds with you or you can buy their even more expensive package and actually get decent pictures. We did that one year, picked a year when the boys were both still young but both willing to see Santa.

  7. 9yo boy:

    Lego

    Fishing pole

    Bigger Nerf gun

Calvin & Hobbes book (he's getting a book plus a Hobbes pillow and 3 prints for his room)

    Board games

    Lego dimensions characters

Swim gear (fins, paddles, kick board, bag, gear bag, parka)

He's asking Santa to surprise him. Santa's bringing a Harry Potter chess set from Etsy.

  8. My swimmer (he's 9) just had his second meet (he missed a month with a broken elbow). He got a lesson in what to do when everything goes wrong. His first race was a 200 free. First flip turn he lost his goggles. He's literally never had that happen. He was so thrown that race. He finished, in last place, but I was proud of how he handled it. The next day his first race was the 100 free. I was more nervous than he was but he did great! He didn't place but he got back on that horse. He also shaved 3 seconds off his 50 breaststroke time. I was proud of him the whole meet especially considering he'd only been back to practice for a week after cast removal. It was his first large meet ever! (He's done small city meets previously). I can't wait to watch him grow in the sport.
