  1. It wont help with place value, but my daughter really loved Addition Facts That Stick by Kate Snow. It is 6 weeks of fun games that really cemented additon facts for her. Bonus, it is cheap on Amazon.
  2. Thank you everyone for your insights! It has helped immensely. I am going to go ahead and get the teachers manual and timelime cards. I am sure I will modify, like I do with everything but I like the idea what they offer. Thanks again!
  3. I was wondering if anyone has experience with Classically Catholic Memory. I am leaning towards using it for my 1st grader next year. For those that have used it, what did you like anx dislike? How was the quality of the cd? Did you base your history and science on the memory work? Does it line up well with Story of the World?
  4. I am pretty pumped. I am hopeful it will be a good fit for my daughter who is finishing up Singapore Math 1b now.
  5. We will probably say K as a rule because DD is very impulse and struggles with emotional regulation at times and people will be more understanding of her behavior if we say she is in K, I think.
  6. Math: Singapore Math 2a/b, sup with Beast Academy 2a? Science: Mystery Science as interested, Quark Chronicles zoology, and Museum and Zoo classes History/geography: Story of the World Ancients Reading: OPGTR/ ETC/ Library Readers Handwriting: HWOT Other Languages Art: Undecided leaning towards FLL 1 and Evan More 6 writing traits Spelling: Spelling You See B Memory: Classically Catholic Memory alpha Art: Home Art Studio PE: dance and tumbling Music: ? Lots and lots of read alouds and audiobooks
  7. My daughter is in a similar situation. She will be 6 at the end of August. In our school district she could have started K this year. One district over has an August 1 cutoff so she wouldn't be starting until next fall. We are meeting her where she is on all fronts and will play it by ear for outside class weather she will be in K or 1 class groups.
  8. Sounds like what I am looking to find. Thanks!
  9. I recently found this website ( http://www.homeschoolscience.com/ ) when searching for science kits for my daughter. It looks promising to me, but I am curious if anyone has experience with them. Thoughts? Experiences?
  10. Thanks everyone! I do wish I could do a language or suzuki music lessons with her, but it is cost prohibitive after paying for preschool. We will definitely add more cooking to our days. She loves to bake but would probably also like to help with other food prep. Legos are a big hit and we do play with them almost daily. Either following directions to complete a kit or free building. We play outside as weather permits. I have a 4 month old so this summer we have been in more than I like. I briefly looked at 5 in a row and it looks neat. She has listened to and liked several of the books the program uses.
  11. Hello! This is my first time posting. I have a very bright, intense and social just turned 4 year old. She will be attending 3 half days of preschool this year at a private Montessori school. I want to do something in addition on the 2 days she does not go to school and possibly something brief the days she goes to school before her friends in the neighborhood get home from kindergarten. I do not want to work on reading, math (logic would be ok) or geography since that will be the focus of her Montessori time. We already do lots of read alouds including both fiction and non-fiction and try to read a chapter book every week-2 weeks depending on the length of the book. We do crafts together, play pretend, and explore outside. She watches way too much tv with daddy so I try to have no screen time during the day. I am looking for something that is fun for her and engaging that she can learn something along the way. Any suggestions?
