  1. MOLaura: same weather here this morning. The frost was so heavy, that I couldn't convice the toddler it was not snow. 😊 He kept shouting, "No, Mom! Its snow! I want to play in it!" 😂

Full school day here today but I like the idea of cutting back. I think we are getting a little burnt out. Maybe we'll stop some things and  be motivated to start fresh after the new year.

Memory work ✔, math (ds is working on it now and I'll work with dd when he's done), spelling ✔, grammar ✔, handwriting ✔, geography, science, piano practice, art. (So I can "cut back" all these undone subjects starting today, right? 😬😜 ) Wow, we really are moving slowly today! 😨

Library and other errands in a little while. I really want to make cookies tonight but I don't know if I'll have time.

  2. I can't wait to hear more about your exciting things, critter!

There is absolutely nothing good for me to say about school today. Uggh. I don't know if I'm sending negative vibes to the kids or what but they are melting down about school, which is just sending me further over the edge.

Part of me thinks we need a break and I should just call it already because they're not going to learn much anyway in this state. The other part of me says we are behind, we have to plow through, even if we don't want to.

Sometimes I hate homeschooling. There. I said it. 😖

They did not look great fresh out of the dryer.....they have been hanging all night in my laundry room...I will take a look when I get home...maybe wrinkles all fell out.  LOL

I take it he hasn't gotten that new washer and dryer yet... 😒 maybe he'll get a fancy dryer with a steam setting and rack! 😁 Does that work for dress shirts or is it for sweaters?

  4. Mommyof1: sorry your dd is being difficult today. If its any consolation, we are having a difficult day here, too. 😕

That's actually why I popped on here. I really need some accountability today. I'm having such an off day. A lot on my mind, and none of it good. The kids have just been playing Lego all morning while I'm meandering from one mindless chore to the next. I'm not actually accomplishing a whole lot though. And the kids are starting to get grouchy with each other.

So, I just finished a 2nd cup of coffee and I'm going to kick my booty into gear! The (manageable) plan for the rest of the day is memory work, copy work, math, spelling, and grammar. I'm going to call that good for school today. Then I'm going to make rice crispy treats for the kids and one of my favorite dinners.

Lets see if I can pull it off when I really just want to dive under the covers! 😥

  5. He must've found a good holiday sale! 😂

I wish I could answer your question but I am one of those people that buys wrinkle free dress shirts, fluffs in the dryer, and only irons them once a year for an observance for Christ's death. And weddings. I'm sure telling you that is only adding to your twitchy-ness!

  6. You poor thing! I know laundry issues are your nemesis, you must be miserable! 😂 Are these shirts for one of your guys or your boss?

Eta: wait wait! Its Wednesday, so I'm going to say: boss! Am I right? Lol! 😂

  7. Sounds like exciting times for you, Critter!

Full school day today, chores, and out of the house activities tonight. Dinner is ready in the fridge (yay!) and things are going reasonably well. (Unheard of!)

School agenda today consists of memory work ✔, copywork ✔, math ✔, spelling ✔, grammar ✔, writing, geography ✔, science, piano practice, and read alouds.

  8. Dh had a medical appointment this morning. 30 minute drive there and the waiting room was packed. We were there for 2 and a half hours!!!! Then we had the 30 minute drive back home. I would not have brought the kids (especially the toddler)  if I thought it was going to be that long. Oh well. We survived.

School-wise, we managed math, handwriting, and geography this afternoon before I crumpled. They got lots of reading time this morning though. Dd read an entire chapter book! 😂

  9. I didn't use braces or splints. I did the opposite. I wrapped my hand around my other arm just below the wrist and rolled my hand in a circular motion clockwise a few times the counter clockwise a few times. Did that a few times a day plus I switched chores assignments so the big kids were carrying laundry baskets, doing more dishes, and the vacuuming. It took a few months but I feel fine now.

Oh and I had to find a different way to pick up the (huge) toddler. I had to stop hooking my hands under his armpits. I haven't gone back to that. I think that's what caused it in the first place.

I hope you get relief soon!

  10. Thanks for the recipe idea. I also live in a house of picky eaters and know how amazing it is when they actually like something.

Dh told me when we were dating to NEVER make him King Ranch Chicken. I had never heard of it at the time, but apparently, it tastes like feet. 😄

MrsRobinson do you have a Panera Bread near you. They have soup and now deliver.

We don't have one in our little town. We just had sandwiches, Greek yogurt, and the like for dinner Thursday.

Its funny you mentioned it though, because I forced myself to go grocery shopping yesterday afternoon and I made Panera copycat chicken and wild rice soup last night for dinner! 😄

@Slache He is so adorable! Those cheeks! 😁💞

For accountability, we did do some school yesterday. Memory work, math, dd spelling, ds grammar, and lots of reading again. Not great but better than Thursday.

  12. Ok, so last night I planned my menu and printed my shopping list for this afternoon.

I must admit it was quicker than my previous planning method and I am a little giddy about this shopping list. This is only meals through Wednesday just to get the ball rolling.

I have not used the app, I was wondering...This is how I use Plan to Eat:

First: I keep Plan to Eat as my homepage on my computer office that sits adjacent to kitchen.  That way, when I run to the computer to call up a recipe to make, it is quickly at hand.  I have thought about placing a bracket inside a kitchen cabinet to hold our iPad so that I could pull up the app at eye level & not have to run back and forth from the office LOL!  So, I cannot comment on the app, but I am thinking of using it.

You all friending me is making me get my tags in order LOL!  If you see/use a recipe that say's 'Ginny's' in the title that is from my late mother and warms my heart to think that someone may make one of her recipes!

I have friended you and MrsR - looking forward to making your Lemon-lime Soda at my next potluck and MrsR's Slow-Cooker Tamale Pie!

Well I've been playing around on the app for the last couple hours in between mom tasks and I think I have it figured out. Its on shopping list and I can enter items to the shopping list (separated by store- love that since I have to go to a couple) or I can switch from shopping list to staples list and whatever I click the checkbox for will import into the shopping list... as far as I can tell.  😄

I am going to try Ginny's Tuna Noodle Casserole! Tuna and noddles are one of the few things my texture averse kid will eat!

The tamale pie was so good the first time I made it. The 2nd time was pretty meh. Maybe I did something wrong. It is definitely good enough for a potluck, though, lol! 😂

  14. I'm MrsR

I haven't used this in a very long time but I'm in a meal rut so I'm gonna give it another whirl.

So far I'm finding the app confusing. Is it a staples list? Is it a weekly shopping list I fill in every week? 😬

  15. The month before it was going to renew, I took it off auto renew so that it would cancel itself. So for that last month, we watched everything we were interested in on Prime Video. I dont think we used Netflix once that month! 😄

I don't miss it at all. We use the free version of Pandora for music and Netflix for TV. We use the library, Redbox, or the video rental store (our little town still has one!) for things we can't get on Netflix.

For shopping, I just let things accumulate in my Amazon cart until I reach the free shipping amount, which doesn't take long.

  16. Good afternoon!

We ended up with a last minute playdate with friends yesterday afternoon. It was nice and worth putting off grocery shopping. Unfortunately, 2 of the kids and I all started having cold-like symptoms before bed last night. The toddler kept me up all night, which made things worse for me today because my body is craving sleep!

So not much has happened in the way of school work today. Lots of books, legos, and science videos. That's about it.

I'm really wanting soup tonight but there's no food in the house because I put off shopping. I never win. 😒

  17. Critter, I had to share your first post with my kids. The toddler makes us read that book about 50 times a day right now so they got a kick out of that! 👆😊 I can't believe your boys are 15!!! They must have been dd's age when I wandered into these forums as a newbie homeschooler! I'll be in your shoes in <5 short years! 😱

We had a medical trip day yesterday. I should have sent independent work to the sitter's for the big kids, but I suck, so I didn't. 😕

Today we will make up for yesterday with a full school day. Memory work, math hour, language arts hour, geography, science, exercise (probably inside on this frigid day), piano practice, read alouds, sewing lesson for dd, and outside activities this evening.
