  1. It's hanging in the closet in a garment bag.  I kept it because I thought someday my dd would want it for her wedding.  When she was 13, I had her try it on, and you know, it just didn't look that special on her.  I took pictures of her in my dress, but now I'm totally okay with her choosing the dress of her dreams one day.  I still can't give it up, though.  Not yet, anyway.

Edited to add:  If my children don't want to use it, I'm thinking of being buried in it.  I'm the bride of Christ, so I thought that might be appropriate.

  2. If your husband does mind, verbally reminding him is what I've done with my dh.  My dh has been under a lot of stress at work lately too, so before he goes out the door, I run through the list with him - do you have your wallet, how about your cell phone, do you have your keys, anything else you need?  My dh generally works from home, so he isn't going out the door on a daily basis.  I think that's what's harder, because it isn't a routine.

Another idea is having a spot near where he goes out the door for the things he needs to take with him.

  3. I have had a Miele canister for several years.  We have mostly carpet.  Two things I hate about it is the hair that I have to cut out of the beater bar often (two girls and no pets), and the expense of the bags.  I recently replaced it with a Shark bagless vacuum for about $270.  I wouldn't necessarily say it is the greatest vacuum, but I do like that it is bagless and so far has done a good job.

  4. My plan is to make it nine more years.

We never liked our options of who would raise the kids if we died, so we just decided to make it until the youngest was 18.  I'm happy to report that we made it! I know that was like burying our heads in the sand, so if you (general you) have some good options, I'd made it official.  Even though the government says a person at 18 is an adult, they still have some maturing to do.  If dh and I died now, we would still need someone to guide them through the process of what you do when your parents die.  We're planning on making it at least another 10 years.

  5. Be diligent whatever you do.  Our next door neighbor had birds that eventually pecked through to her bathroom wall.  I could see the birds flying in and out.  This went on for several years as she just ignored it.  I think the only thing she did was put an aluminum pie pan on the side of the house.  Just this year she ended up doing a total bathroom remodel and putting new siding on her entire house.  Get some professional advice if what you're doing doesn't work.
