  3. One source to try is http://edhelper.com/. A basic membership is $20/year. I think that covers the elementary grades. For middle school and above, you can check out what is available at http://www.sparknotes.com/sparknotes/. Online access is free with per book prices for files/books to download. And this site http://www.sldirectory.com/libsf/resf/bookplans.html is a long list of literature lesson plans and resources for school librarians. Merri
  4. You might find a few Time Warp Trio videos to review some ancient history. 6. I am planning to create a set of notebook pages for SOTW3 along with some other resources. As a spin-off of the lapbook thread, what kinds of resources would you like to have available and for what ages? Merri Dennis
  7. Scroll down to the section - Reading Skills Assessment Tool on this page - http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/articles/060899.htm This is a very simple assessment tool, but the results were pretty accurate. Merri Dennis
  8. My boys and I enjoy (11 and 8) the game. And of course Dad is really good at it and enjoys it as well. Merri Dennis:001_smile:
  9. That's what I thought. Thanks so much for the confirmation. Merri
  10. Can someone tell me the differences in these two editions of Kingfisher? They both have red covers and the main headings in the Table of Contents seems to be the same. I'm trying to guide some parents about which version to purchase. Merri
  11. I'm almost finished with a 30 week schedule for SOTW1 that includes activities from History Pockets and other things I've found online. I put it together for a friend who has a 1st grader and a 5th grader. If you're interested, I can email you a copy of the schedule when I get it completed. Merri
  12. Here's a list from someone's blog post - http://smoothstonesacademy.blogspot.com/2008/08/books-to-compliment-sotw-2.html This is one of the sites I have collected in my SOTW research efforts.:001_smile: Merri Dennis
  13. This site might be a good resource http://www.christiananswers.net/kids/clr-indx.html Merri Dennis
  14. I just googled your question and this one popped up - http://www.flutekey.com/img_map/DT-All5NAb.jpg It looks similar to one I purchased last summer at a small museum bookstore. Merri
  15. We're just getting started with this approach, but I just numbered mine. That way if I want to change the subjects/contents of various folders, I don't have to move the labels around. Merri
  16. During our first year of homeschooling, I was caring for my ailing stepdad. On the way to the doctor's office one morning, he asked that we go to the ER instead. So we schooled in the ER room that day. Merri Dennis http://www.encourageachild.com
  17. You might try Amazon and some of the Listmania lists that have been built by other homeschoolers. Or do a search on a biblical character's name and sort by grade/age level to find an appropriate book. Merri Dennis www.EncourageAChild.com
  18. I put together my own set of timeline figures for SOTW 1 (and included a few additional biblical figures). I also created a foldable timeline that will fit in a notebook binder. You just glue the pages together and accordion-fold the pages. You can download the files from this page on my website - http://www.encourageachild.com/page7.html I hope this helps. Merri Dennis:)
  19. I sent you a private message. In addition to silver ink and silver detail embossing powder, you also need a heat tool or heat gun. It looks kind of like a blow dryer, but it has a hotter and more concentrated heat stream. This melts the embossing powder that will adhere to the stamped image. Feel free to contact me with other questions. Merri merri@gmx.com http://www.EncourageAChild.com
