  1. I live in TX and people here do the weirdest thing, if you come up behind someone, not even very fast or close, they fly off the road to let you pass. It is crazy! Usually no blinker or anything. You will often see people driving slowly on the shoulder as if it were a separate lane. It is kind of nice to not get stuck behind slow drivers though.
  2. This may be possible, but I very highly doubt it. He has never once been constipated. I've never heard this one! I'll remember that. If anything he is too hot...summer in TX.. I am thinking this is what could be going on. DH very severely sprained his ankle last week. He has been in a great deal of pain and laid up on the couch so it's been kind of stressful around here. This also seems very likely as well. I think a combination of playing hard, not getting enough sleep, Daddy being hurt and growing like a weed may have just all come together at once. Thanks for in the insight ladies, I love this forum more everyday :-)
  3. He has being going regularly (I still have to wipe sometimes).
  4. I'm thinking no on the UTI, I asked if it hurt him to go and he said no. I haven't noticed him drinking more than usually, it has actually been to hot to go outside much lately. So we've been cooped up in the house. Puzzling. He has a bladder of steel.
  5. My oldest son has wet the bed twice in the last four days. He wakes up right after and is very embarrassed. This child potty trained at age 2.5 in two days flat. NEVER had accidents or wet the bed. And I mean never. From day one. This is literally the first time he has ever wet the bed. Any thoughts? ETA he went to the bathroom before going to bed both times.
  6. Th good thing about the GIANT Alaskan Mosquitos is that you can hear them coming and feel them land on you. These tiny TX mosquito are silent and I never notice them land until it's too late. And they seem to have super strong saliva, the little creeps. Thanks for the tip about the lemon eucalyptus oil, I will definitely give that a try!
  7. I too have pale red eyelashes and like to wear mascara. But I'm like you and feel like I need something else with it. I really like the BB and CC creams. They are light and easy to put on, like lotion, but they do even out your skin a bit. I'm in TX, and its hot, but I don't have much trouble with it sweating and running.
  8. http://skeetersyndrome.blogspot.com/ I came across this blog in my research. It's by a mom whose little boy suffers greatly from Skeeter Syndrome. She has been able to control his symptoms with doTerra oils. All the information is on the blog. I thought it might be helpful. Also, thank you all for your stories and advice.
  9. This seems similar to what happens to me. Not everytime. I am so sorry to hear that. So far I haven't had any open up or blister, but I will keep my eye on them. This sounds very familiar. I agree! And I will be using repellent religiously from now on! I don't go out in the evenings all that often, but will always be better protected.
  10. Do any of you have or know anyone with Skeeter Syndrome? It is an allergic reaction to mosquito bites. I think I may have this. I grew up in Alaska, aka the mosquito capital of the world, where we joked the mosquito was the state bird. I was always outside and got bit countless times. I never really noticed the bites beside maybe mild itchiness. Never swelled or scabbed or anything like that. I know live in Texas and am having the worst trouble with mosquito bites. When we first moved (almost two years ago) I got bit and noticed that they itched a lot more but I just figured I needed to build up a resistance to the type of Mosquitos that live here. This summer I have been getting bit and the bites keep getting worse and worse. On Wednesday evening I was outside watering trees and got bit a bunch on my legs. They immediately started to itch extremely bad and swelled up. By the next morning, I had one on my upper thigh that had swelled to about a 4" diameter and was painful and hot to the touch. I had others on my legs that were about 2" diameter. There are bites on my knee, ankle and wrist and those joints are locked up and very painful. Tonight, none are any better. The bite on my ankle is now bigger and very painful and like has red streaking on it. I did a bit of research and it looks like maybe could be Skeeter Syndrome but I don't have all the symptoms. Anybody have any experience or advice? ETA: I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and think maybe that could have something to do with the sudden increase in problems with bites...
  11. The Chihuly Glass and Garden is absolutely amazing! I cannot recommend it highly enough! I just returned from a trip to Seattle and loved every minute of it. I went on a sailboat ride from the waterfront that was a lot of fun also and was only $33 for a 90 minute ride. I don't know what your budget is, but The Mayflower Park Hotel was a very nice place to stay.
  12. Like others have said, it's not so much adding a new baby, it's more when that baby turns into a toddler. My first was a serious challenge. Terrible sleeper, cried nonstop, couldn't be put down, didn't nap. Everyone I knew couldn't believe I had more after him. But after he turned about 15 months, he did a total turn around and was a great toddler and is now a pretty easy, helpful young boy. I got pregnant again when he was about 15-16 months and that was tough toward the end. Then that baby was born early and in the NICU. Which was stressful until we got home, but he was a dream baby. Slept like a champ, content, the whole works. It was soo easy having two!! Ha. It was great until he turned one and I got pregnant again. He turned into a toddler tornado and still is. I was on bed rest. Then baby girl was born and three weeks later we moved from Alaska to Texas. We drove. 96 hours. But she was also a really easy baby. It was easy again! Then she turned one And here we go again! It's the toddlers! They are so incredibly tiring. But I wouldn't change it, I wanted them close and I am still glad they are. And this is just a season. A really hard season, but it will pass and change. They are now almost 6, 4, and 2. And it's getting easier. Sort of.
  13. Ok! The biting kitten is now safely in the hands of the humane society where it will continue its quarantine. It has been five days since the bit so it just needs five more days. It looks perfectly healthy so i think the chances are very slim it wont make it, and will hopefully be able to be adopted out soon! I am glad it came to this end.
  14. The humane Society it closed on Mondays. Grr.. Will know more tomorrow. Also I am having a reaction to the Bactrim. Swell.
  15. Ok I made some calls and it turns out animal control had not intention of trying to trap the kittens. But I found out that they would take a cat to the humane society to be tested for rabies. So we went and got the kitten (much more carefully this time) and I have it in a kennel and will be taking it in the the humane society first thing Monday. I am sad that the kitten will have the put down in order to have the test, but I need to know.
  16. Thank you for your concern and the article! It seemed a little to good to be true when the AC said no big deal. My thought was, what if the momma had rabies? Momma cat could have bitten the kittens or passed it while pregnant. I WILL find out ASAP were I can get the shots. I don't want to be dead!
  17. Me either!!! I figured they might be hard to catch, but never that they would attack me!
  18. Aww thanks! I am a sucker for kittens and apparently can't get my hands on enough small creatures to take care of ;-)
  19. Thank you all so much for your stories! It makes me so happy they have a chance! I got ahold of animal control and they are going to try to trap them Monday. He also said that since the kitten that bit me was less than four months old, I didn't need the rabies vaccines. He said before four months old, a cat very, very likely would NOT survive a bite from a rabid animal. So yea! I get to skip a ton of expensive shots!
  20. I have seen that show. I wish I had a big old barn, I would do exactly that.
  21. I just got in contact with animal control and am waiting for a call back from them. I am also going to call my Dr. and see about starting the vaccine. I do not want to take any risks, being dead is a bummer ;-). The antibiotics they prescribed me are making me feel kind of sick. I hate when a good deed comes back to bite you, literally!!
  22. I actually just received an email from my vet office stating that there have been a surge of rabies cases in my area :-/ The paperwork the ER gave me said to call animal control and look into the shots, but not one staff member mentioned it all. Luckily I am one to read that paperwork.
  23. Fortunately I do know exactly which kitten it was because four out of six are white, one grey tabby (which bit me), and one black and white. I hope they can be rehabbed, but I am guessing that prolly will not happen unless I take them and I'm now not sure that would be a good idea...
  24. I will call first thing tomorrow! Thank you! I am kind of surprised the ER didn't really bring up getting the shots :-/
  25. Thank you for the advice. I am so glad to hear there is hope for those babies!! I am calling animal control first thing tomorrow and can hopefully work with them it terms of what is done with them after they are caught. I am thinking my plan of bringing them home with me is probably not very wise because of my small children. Hopefully they will also be able to test them for rabies right away as well. If not then I will be getting the rabies shots. I recently received an email from my vet that said there have been a lot of rabies cases in my area lately, so I am on top of that.
