  1. Here is the Movie Trailer from Youtube Rotten Tomatoes gives it a an 81% Movie information from Tomato: MOVIE INFO Testament of Youth is a powerful story of love, war and remembrance, based on the First World War memoir by Vera Brittain, which has become the classic testimony of that war from a woman's point of view. A searing journey from youthful hopes and dreams to the edge of despair and back again, it's a film about young love, the futility of war and how to make sense of the darkest times.© Sony Classics http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/testament_of_youth/?search=testament I've looked at the reviews and trailers. Looks like a well made movie worth seeing. :lurk5: (with popcorn of course!)
  2. It was in 1980 and I was 16. My first vehicle was a Red, 1972 Mercury Marquis, It had 460 4 barrel and ate gas like a pig! I loved that car. It was truly a Heavy Metal Car. I remember the first day I got it. My older brother, Melvin, helped me buy it, and I stopped in the middle of nowhere on the way home and cranked the stereo. it had 6 speakers and the sound was amazing for a 1970's vehicle. I drove it for four years. I broke down on a county road, while in college, and did not have the money to pay for the tow bill. The tow company kept it. Here's a link to a picture of what it looked like. http://farm8.static.flickr.com/7351/12092938705_30459dc576.jpg
  3. My first job was the day I turned 16 years old, McDonald's Restaurant. I was paid the minimum wage of the day of $3.35 per hour. It was a great first job. My first real job was Briggs and Stratton making Lawn Mower Engines. Great pay but I hated factory work, so I completed college and became a cop and a soldier. :patriot:
  4. Thank you both! I have not tried either one. I will try them sometime soon. Thank you again! :hurray:
  5. This topic may have been covered before. if so, be gentle, I'm new. I was looking for a common, easy to purchase, wine that has excellent taste! Does anyone have a wine they would suggest? I like Merlot type best. Price range between cheap to moderate. The stores in my area are Kroger, Liquor Barn, and normal liquor stores. Thanks! :cheers2:
  6. I agree Btervet! :iagree: Diversity is an American Culture. One example that comes to mind is how many different languages we speak. With no OFFICIAL language, there are over 300 different languages spoken in the US. wow... Here's and excerpt from the below referenced article. Interesting stuff... LanguageThere is no official language of the United States, according to the U.S. government. While almost every language in the world is spoken in the United States, Spanish, Chinese, French and German are among the most frequently spoken non-English languages. Ninety percent of the U.S. population speaks and understands at least some English, and most official business is conducted in English. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that more than 300 languages are spoken in the United States. The bureau divides those languages intofour categories: Spanish; other Indo-European languages, which includes German, Yiddish, Swedish, French, Italian, Russian, Polish, Hindi, Punjabi, Greek and several others; Asian and Pacific Island languages, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Tamil and more; and "all other languages," which is a category for languages that didn't fit into the first three categories, such as Hungarian, Arabic, Hebrew, languages of Africa and languages of native people of North, Central and South America. Above is the example I found in this article on American Culture. http://www.livescience.com/28945-american-culture.html Sure there are many cultural traditions in America, I just found this one to be very interesting. God Bless America! :patriot:
  7. http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/14/8778819/jurassic-world-box-office-numbers-opening-weekend-record Interesting article about the movie. The first Jurassic Park made approx. 47 million in the US it's first weekend. I had a feeling this movie was going to be a hit by the crowds and the fact it was sold out several times. I take my kids to several (selective) movies a year and it's rare to see a movie sold out. Jurassic World made over 200 million in the US in its opening weekend. wow.... impressive, only 2nd to Avengers movie by 2.8 million. The movies we are looking forward to the rest of the year are: Star Wars (of course), Ant -Man. Transylvania 2 (the first one was hilarious), and maybe Pan. :lurk5:
  8. Update: I took the kids to the movie and they all loved it! A movie about Dinosaurs eating people...how can you go wrong. :lurk5:
  9. I would be good with 6 kids. As long as they turn out as good as the first 5 and my wife agrees to homeschool him/her. The World could always use more homeschoolers. :patriot:
  10. LoL...Well, my wife is the smart one. She does all the homeschooling. I just teach the kids Chess. My second post! :coolgleamA:
  11. I saw the movie Thursday and it was good. Pratt was excellent! I went to take a couple of my kids to see it today, Saturday, and it was sold out! The only seats available were a few in the front row. crazy. I bought four tickets to the Sunday afternoon movie and it was over half full already. The first Jurassic Park (1993) grossed just over 47 million in its first weekend. I going to go out on a limb and say that this new release will beat that by millions. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6f/Feathered_Tyrannosaurus_model.jpg Here's to summer movie hits! :cheers2: Jim
