  1. My passion in homeschooling is more about being home with my children, providing an environment that jives with my educational philosophy and our religious beliefs. I am not so much a content area person. I am more of a big picture person (for example, teaching my children how to learn, or encouraging their curiosity whatever the subject would be). But, if I have to pick a subject it would be Nature Study.
  2. My 18 year old son is reading Emma and is not liking it one bit. He says it is too detailed and nothing ever happens! My 15 year old daughter is reading Moby Dick and she is actually enjoying it and loving the symbolism. I am reading Atonement, and it is a slow paced book with lots of details. It has not been a fast or easy read, but I am anxious to find out how it ends.
  3. home many of you do your own thing. I used Sonlight the "right way" one year out of our 13 years of homeschooling. Other than that I have put my own curriculum together using many different resources. I have always tried hard to make things fit us instead of making us fit the curriculum. That, and I have a ton of books on my shelves that I feel like I should use instead of buying new books so I love to substitute.
  4. My oldest will graduate this year and we have been homeschooling since he was 4. I was very eager to get started back then. Dd2 will graduate in 3 years and my youngest two in 7 years. It sure has gone by fast.
