    We received three (!) Darlas and one Brrrick. DD would love any other characters, especially Waffutu (the one with the princess crown). We will happily send you one or both Darlas in exchange.

    COVID for Christmas 😷

    I'm so sorry!

    A man from my church has been in the hospital for over a month with COVID. At the beginning of his illness, he fell down and couldn't breathe. 😞 

    The church (or the family sending the email updates?) is calling it "an infection" or "the infection"--never, ever COVID. I only know it's COVID because the pastor mentioned that it was. Wish they'd be more open to encourage more people to be vaxxed.

    Contacts for teenager

    DD started wearing contacts at about 13. I would have liked to go with dailies but they were too $$$.

    Our insurance covers monthlies and that is what she uses  If we forget to change them out each month, her eyes eventually start to get irritated.

    She has had to learn to thoroughly wash out the case with soap once in a while and that made a big difference in her eye comfort. She was cleaning her contacts okay but not the inside of the case.

    We had several ripped and lost contacts at the beginning. That's just how it goes. 

    She did have trouble with insertion for a week or two, even though she practiced in the office and had a great instructor. We naturally recoil from things touching our eyeballs. She hated wearing glasses so much that she kept on until she got it down!

    Sick people at get togethers bothered me even in the Before Times. Once a relative brought her sick kids to a Christmas gathering. Predictably, my child got sick and then couldn't see family who were only in the area once or twice a year. (This relative was VERY sorry and is more careful now, in every way--especially after COVID. Went from a non-vaxxer to a vaxxer, even!)

    This is not the time to spread stuff. Actually it's never the time to spread stuff. It's not polite or kind.

    Need a dip recipe for a dip luncheon at work

    sound too simple to taste good - but believe me it is delicious

    Another super easy fruit dip:

    1 (8 oz.) pkg. softened cream cheese (dairy- or plant-based)

    1/2 c. brown sugar

    1 tsp. vanilla

    Mix with mixer until smooth.
