Extraordinary Video (Ukraine Has Talent)
Tanya in KS replied to Spy Car's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I am A Ukie! and I had that video forwarded to me by my husband. I forwarded it to all my relatives. They LOVED it. It was amazing and so realistic. Really hit home to some of the family. -
Are there still sample pages that you can see online somewhere? There use to be but now I can not find them :001_huh: Thanks

I am about to order the WWE for my son who is in the 3rd grade. We are doing Rod & Staff Grammar Grade 3. We have not done any dictation or narrations. Just beginning those skills. Which level would you recommend we start with (I was thinking level II) and do I need both the book & workbook? I am confused about what the workbook actually is. Thanks!

We just brought home a new puppy last Friday (9-4) at 6 pm. When we first brought him home, he was a great pup! Playful, sleepy, etc - everything a puppy should be. Last night, I noticed that the puppy was just "not right", droopy. He did cough a few times and that was all. I decided to take the pup to vet last night first thing in the morning. I got a 10 appt. Took him in and dr diagnosed bronchitis. Came home and at 2pm, puppy was WORSE! So I took him back in and now puppy is on IV through the night. So I contacted the breeder to let her know what was going on... She is insisting that it did not come from her home. Obviously, we will continue treatment. But as a breeder, does she have some responsiblity? What if something happens to him overnight? I know that I maybe overacting but we are so sad and worried. Any advice?:bigear: Thanks!

How do you give a grade for lab work? We will be using Physical Science, Apologia this year for my science challenged son. Just looking for ideas.

Good Morning We have always used Progeny Press Guides, completing two a year. I have a 9th graders this year and that does not seem like it should be enough for him. Is it? I plan on doing World History/Geography this year with him. I would love to hear how you complete your literature studies for HS:bigear:

Large Litters--Give me the facts
Tanya in KS replied to Closeacademy's topic in General Education Discussion Board
What breed of rabbit is she? Inside/Outside? If you leave her be and not mess too much with the nest you may end up with keeping all of them alive. It will depend on the breed of rabbit. My daughter has been breeding rabbits for 5 years now, we have a very small breed of rabbit. Thus not very large litters, we usually lose one with each litter she has but that is common for dwarf breeds. -
Okay.. so I have stocked up on some great games for school this year thanks to you all - Banagrams, Quiddler, Rush Hour, etc BUT is there any fun Math games out there that you would recommend. Thanks in advance!:bigear:

I have been recently diagnosised with endo. & am in severe pain right now. Last night was awful my poor hubby just didn't know how to help me. I am scheduled for a hysterectomy, adhesion removal, & endo removal on August 12th. I am so ready even though I am scared out of my mind. Between the pain & anxiety of the surgery I am a total mess right now. I guess I just needed to rant. Thanks for listening.

Looking for a wooden marble set that won't break/fall apart when my son plays or puts away. I would even consider plastic IF you have had it FOREVER and it has lasted. Thanks!

Okay.. so I was helping my daughter make mulberry jam for 4H and "I" did not read the recipe right - we used powder pectin instead of liquid pectin thus her jelly is syrup. Can I save it or do we have to start a whole new batch??

Looking for ideas for filler time for a 3rd grader & 6th grader. They have 1/2 hour blocks to complete their work and sometimes they get done early. I would like to give them a list of ideas to work on but nothing that would take them a long time. I have some file folder games for 3rd grader but would like some more science & history ideas. Thanks for your help!

I know this may not be a problem for some children but for my 11 yo daughter it DEFINATELY is. She reads ALL day long - 2 200 page books a day! I can not get her to do anything else this summer. When school starts she will be busy with her band & orchestra - she is doing 1.5 hours of practice daily still. We live in a small town so there are no summer activites for her to be involved in. Any ideas??? She is not into crafts. She will do a puzzle if I MAKE her. Please, please help Tanya

I used it this year along with Simply Presidential (we are actually finishing up right now) For the states, it is up to you how you study them. The curriculum suggests to study by region - this is what we did. They have areas of interest/ideas of study for each state and then a list of books that would be great resources for that state. We used the library a lot in the beginning but also as we a rushing to wrap it up we are using the encyclopedia more which is still working out well. All the resources have been wonderful and enlightening. We have really enjoyed this study and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone studying the states/presidents. I used it with a 2nd grader & 5th grader.

Yet another history question!!
Tanya in KS replied to TheCoffeeChick's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Simply Stated & Simply Presidential Together. I loved it. We used our encyclopedias the most for our information. I just wanted the children to learn the pres and a little about them & the times that they were going through and also all the states and capitals. It is a VERY easy program to use with all the research done for you! I HIGHLY recommend it. I also have several of the resources if you are interested in purchasing it!:) Just PM me and I could let you know what I have available -
Camping in South Dakota?
Tanya in KS replied to dani3boys's topic in General Education Discussion Board
This is where stayed. I LOVED it just because of the name. When we went it was August - HOTTEST days of the summer in the country. Our camp ground was very shaded and accomodating. I HIGHLY recommend it We had a BLAST when we went three years ago. The children still talk about it! -
Anyone orders these? Are they worth the $? Thanks!

I will have a 9th, 6th, 3rd, K, & 2 PKs next year. We use MOH for our scheduling and I love it, my children are all very independent learners. I have 1/2 hour teaching time for each child BUT no time to grade all their work except in evening and by then I am sooo burned out. I have seen so many great organization ideas for school work but what about for mom and grading - is there a great file system? Do you rip all the workbook pages out and have a turn in pile/place in binder pile? Thanks in advance:bigear:

Okay... how have you all done it. I am drinking water (still 1 Dr. Pepper a day -no coffee or tea - my only pick me up). Eating smaller portions. Walking 2 miles per day - 1/2 hour - that is all I can work in right now with my schedule. I know that I need to add more exercise but what? H I have lost 5 pounds in 3 months and am frustrated with the scale not moving any further. I would like to lose 10 pounds more. What has worked for you?
