Oh, neat!! Thanks for posting the link. How did you hear about it?
-
Yes, what Milovany said. :)

There are a few on the East Coast, some in the Southern half and at least one in the Northern half. I'm from CT, but am now in the Heart of Dixie! :001_smile:
...where "average" weather doesn't exist. There's no such thing as a nice, light summer rain. Oh no, we have to have tornadoes or flash flooding or a drought.
Sorry, I'm just tired of all this water!!! :tongue_smilie: I've had to drive in these flooding conditions quite a few times this summer and it's so nerve wracking. That said, the temps really have been very mild this year!

Before posting, you can highlight all your text and copy it. I've done this before when it's something I especially don't want to lose. Click Control+A to select all, then Control+C to copy. To then paste, you would use Control+V. On a mac, use the Command key in place of Control.
You may know this already!

WTM actually recommends having children read adaptations in the younger years, before the real thing.
In the last several months, we read 2-3 of those Target books. My boys (5 and 7) loved them. Read and enjoy! :)

That is a beautiful icon!:)

The low temps came with MORE flash flooding, if that helps any. I've enjoyed the more-bearable-than-usual temperatures this summer, but the massive downpours are getting a little old.
I do prefer warm climates myself. Grew up in CT and decided at a young age that I was NOT going to stay anywhere near all that awful SNOW!! -
If I remember correctly, someone else mentioned having trouble with that due to the extra mark in her board name. If you didn't already, try going through her profile page to send the PM. Maybe that's not the issue, though.

If you could use a unabashedly Christian perspective, I would totally buy the new Apologia Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics. It's JUST been released, so I haven't seen it yet. I would expect it to be very thorough!!

LOL, that's kinda what I pictured, too. I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one. :leaving:
I read this last week when a friend shared it on Facebook. Interesting.

Thank you! There was actually a couple visiting our parish here last week who were from CT. I didn't see them but a friend did. She said their home parish in CT was some town starting with an "M" but she couldn't remember what they said. I'll bet it was this one!
While this one is about as far from my parents as my own parish is from my house, there are at least two others "on the way". LOL, I sure wish it was like that around here! -
LOL, that's a long shot, but the way the Orthodox are connected.... you never know!! I'm looking at Terryville, specifically.
Visiting CT soon. PM me if you know anyone up there. :)

We started today. I'm already panicking about a few things! Nevertheless, it was a good day.

Yep. My SIL is the one who introduced me to the classical approach. She carries it out better than I do, but I definitely use it as a model. I know a few others.

Have you seen the "Are you saved?" youtube video? I'll find it...
Here ya go:

I was homeschooled myself and used A Beka Grammar and Comp all the way through. I liked it. I can ,write good, to. See? ;)
I also did Wordly Wise for years. I thought it was hilarious to call it Worldly Wise every day. And then it stuck. Now, every time, I have to purposely stop myself from saying the WRONG title! My copy of A Child's Paradise of Saints came today! It looks very nice. Can't wait to read it!

I chose Sarah (my name), as I felt like it would offend her somehow if I didn't! lol:) I also felt drawn to another saint, but decided against it for the reason I mentioned and because there are two others in my family with that saint's name (Sophia). My daughter chose a saint with her middle name (Hope - who is Sophia's daughter!), but she did love that saint from the first time she heard her story. I chose Samuel for my younger son, as that's his name (and he didn't show any preference otherwise). And my older son chose a saint with the same name as his dad's saint (Theodore - but they are different saints; also his Theodore is a soldier, and my son's birth name means "strong with the spear").
My kids' step-sister was baptized Michelle, and her godmother is Mihaela, both with Archangel Michael as their patron.

I found the samples at Christianbook.com to be more helpful than those at Rainbowresource.com.

I did mine a few weeks ago. Can I still post the pics? :) Let's assume that it got this way because we were doing school in the kitchen, and not the other way around...
Presenting The Room of Shame and its nemesis, Cleanliness.P.S. Yes, we DO have bookcases on an opposite wall! I don't want anyone to worry that my poor children are being deprived of great piles of books! :D

Alenee, we are always just barely treading water here! I was SO THRILLED when we finally finished our school year the last week of June... a full month after everyone else in our state. But, hey, we made it!

I ordered Child's Paradise of Saints Wednesday! Can't wait to learn more myself!!:)

I was recently looking at this. I decided to wait on it for my DD, but it looks neat! http://simplycharlottemason.com/store/your-business-math/

I'm kind of in awe of those of you who know so quickly. It was two years, three months from the time I first stepped into an Orthodox Church to the time I said, "Yes! Let's do this!"
Prayers for you on your path!

Hi! :) Welcome back to the homeschool world!
question about privacy
in Exploring Orthodox Christianity
Posted
Short answer: Yes.
The FB group would be more private, but would obviously limit the replies as well.
