That's it!! Thank you so much!

I'm trying to remember a preschool "curriculum" that I saved a few years ago, but have since deleted. I think my friend would like it, if I could find it!
It was divided into seasons. Each week had a theme with related activities and books (making butter, visiting a farmer's market?). A few books were used for math and phonics, but I don't remember what ones (Explore the Code, maybe). You could download each season separately.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Thank you!

Putting this here, since it's not homeschool-specific (my kids are in public school this year!). Do you have a favorite school prayer for your children, whether to pray for them, or with them, or for them to pray themselves?
-
I just received an email from Uncut Mountain - they are back online!

I'm so sorry you're hurt! I pray it heals quickly.

Mmm, this is true. Good point.

No. And yes, sometimes. Is the liturgy intended to draw an emotional response, or an emotional high? No. Is it intended to humble us? Yes. Sometimes I feel joyful, sometimes I'm moved to tears, sometimes I kinda want to run away. Does that count as emotional? ;)

If you're able to get the one from Uncut Mountain in the future, you definitely should. I ordered it for my MIL last year and it's very beautiful!

Are wristwatches extinct?!
Almost completely. :)

She does say ANY photo/text from ANY site. Maybe for now it's better to take everything down.
Thanks for starting this thread. I hadn't seen her posts yet.

There is a group of bell ringers at our parish (we have a small set of bells in the narthex). One of the older teen girls teaches and organizes them. MY dd wasn't interested, but it was started with the goal of involving the girls more. Most of the young girls are also in the choir.

I'm finding myself getting bored, to be honest. I LIKE quiet, but I kinda feel lonely. My favorite scenario is when kids are HOME but OUTSIDE. Close but not too close. ;) I work two part time jobs, so that takes up some time. Still, I'm ending up with a lot of time on my hands that I don't want to squander. I don't want to look back in a few years and realize that I spent most of it watching Netflix, you know?
We're just 3 weeks into our public schooling adventure. Still figuring these things out! :) (Right now, though, I'm off to work at our local teaching supplies store, where I get to drool over all the pretty books and posters and decoratives and stickers and pencils! :drool5:)

This is one of the issues I'm encountering. Some days we can do DS's daily reading at bedtime, and some days we run out of time/energy. DD always makes time herself, cause she WANTS to read. DS is the one who needs it!
Yesterday I had them do their homework right away, after snack, and it worked out pretty well. Today I think I'll try having DS do his reading earlier, too.
I don't think I could manage the brain power to have them do anything BEFORE school! We have sufficient afternoon/evening time. It's just a matter of managing it well. That's always the hard part, right?? :) -
Thanks for all your replies! It really helps me to see what's working for others. I think we'll be having play time after school until dinner. I'll read Bible during dinner, then we'll do homework or other extras that I've assigned. If they don't putz around too much, they'll have time to watch a tv show before bedtime (which is when they'll do their personal reading). We're settling in nicely, but there are definitely still some adjusting to do. :)

Do your kids do homework/afterschooling as soon as they get home? Do they play first? How much time do you spent on after-school work? I'm just looking for a general run-down of your day after school. We're a couple weeks into this new public school adventure and I'm still getting a feel for what works best for US.

It's possible that you might actually be able to homeschool, depending on your schedule. Since you sub, I am assuming you arrive home earlier than a standard 9-5 office job? Why not pay a babysitter while you work, then teach her when you get home? I only suggest this because I get the impression that it's more in line with your heart's desire. :) It would be harder to do this with higher grades, but kindy is so much more relaxed. Perhaps her babysitter could do read alouds and other simple things, too. Just a thought!
I haven't juggled all-day work with homeschooling, but I HAVE juggled two part time jobs (one of which is at home) with homeschooling. Where there's a will, there's a way! (My kids have just started public schooling this year, cause the "will" has disappeared! lol!)

I just saw this now, but I'm glad to see that the situation is beginning to resolve. Saying a quick prayer that it will continue. :)

Indeed He is risen!
Prayers, Maggie. :grouphug:

Thanks for sharing! I will save the link for another time. Sounds like something I need to hear. :)

If you get a chance to stop by, that would be great! Don't worry about it if it's not convenient. :)

Huh, that does look interesting! I don't have a B&N near me, but there's one out in a direction I've been thinking of going anyway for a few other stops. Maybe we'll drive out and see if they have it, too!

I love the quote in your signature. :)
We're plugging along. Things are going pretty good. Every DAY does not go great, but I feel good at the moment because we've actually done school every day for a few weeks now! lol! It's the little things, right? DD9 has been getting her work done more quickly, with a better attitude, and that's made an enormous difference. It's such a relief.
We've started reading through the Old Testament again. I floundered for awhile on what to read from. When DD was K/1st, we read the Child's Story Bible by Catherine Vos, which I loved. When we came back around to start it over, I was just beginning to see life from an Orthodox perspective and I struggled with knowing what to skim over. I set the book aside. Now that we've started again, it's going just fine. Maybe I've just settled in better, two years later, with the "new perspective"? I don't know. Anyway, we're enjoying it. :)

I asked about the crosses and she said they're not available anymore. They bought a whole bunch a long time ago and have given them out little by little. But here are some relatively inexpensive crosses that are somewhat similar:

Oooh, this one has a great selection for my low price expectations! Thank you! I'll let the kids each choose one.
