  1. I was going to paint something on a fabric project that I'm making. But it is a series of boxes, and I'm thinking if I paint it with a brush the lines might not be so sharp. I would love to use a sharpie, but I'm concerned about the fumes. My son and I react to a lot of products. Town is a long drive away so I'm hoping I can use something else. Would a regular, non-washable crayola maker be permanent on cotton?
  2. I'm obviously not a science major  Is there a "standard" periodic table? There seem to be various tables out there, some with more elements than others. Fill me in, why is this, and what is the standard table?
  3. Thanks everyone. Some of these are new to me, so I appreciate the suggestions. I just took a look around this site http://secunia.com/community/advisories/product/ and you can search the software and see what security advisories have submitted. Internet Explorer 9 looks pretty good. Opera seems to have some outstanding issues, Chrome and has had some advisories, but nothing outstanding. Does IE have apps like Chrome and Opera? I Opera has lots of good looking add ons.
  4. I have always used Windows Int. Explorer. It is slow and crashing all the time on me so I'm going to either remove and reinstall it or go to something else. If you don't use Explorer and use something FREE and like it, what do you use?
  5. I thought I'd update as I now have a completely new dog. Honestly! I would be the last person to puchase or suggest a shock fence. I have tried everything I could and read more than enough books/webites for a dozen dogs. But his fixation was over the top. Even though he is trained to sit/stay at the door before opening it, the moment I said come he bolted out the door (on lead) and tore my arm off trying to get to the coop. If he was off lead he would circle the coop relentlessly. He never did hurt one of the girls, but I'm sure he caused them stress. Plus, we couldn't have any fun playing ball or even snuggling on the grass because he totally ignored us and circled the coop. I wasn't getting anywhere with recall outside either. So I finally bought a wireless fence. Within two days he, for the most part, figured it out. He will now sit alongside where I am working and focus on everything else around him. It is almost like the coop is not longer there! I placed the border about 10 feet away from the coop. He really and truly is a more relaxed dog. And because we can play with him, he is getting more exercise too. I honestly never would have thought the fence would do what it has. And I accidently got my finger in the wrong spot today as I was moving the collar and got a sting. It felt like the sting you get when you touch your tongue to a D battery. I know it isn't for everyone, including me a few weeks ago, but it has taken a huge amount of stress away so I thought I'd update :)
  6. Do you buy shoes? I never have. I can't imagine that you could clean the inside of a shoe adequately. I saw some really cute boots today and was tempted. I see lots of people doing it. Do you?
  7. Anyone know the timeline for these books? Are they all set at similar times or are some earlier than others? I'd like to read them in chronological order.
  8. What websites have good, up to date coverage as the storm moves?
  9. Oh Oh now you nee to share! What gnome book:bigear:
  10. It was assigned reading for my Children's Lit class in university. I remember it being a VERY long read for me then LOL!
  11. Do you have a link for the book you are using?
  12. My youngest needs a stool to reach the vanity. I recently put in a new wooden vanity and would like to change the step-stool to something that won't cause dings or chip paint etc. I was thinking of something along the idea of those yoga foam blocks??? Anyone have any other ideas of something to use, make or buy?
  13. I just ordered mine tonight too. It says on the order page that you will receive instructions on your "My Subscriptions" page. Did you check there for any information? Let us know how you make out.
  14. If I'm buying something using only smartpoints do I still have to type in all my personal information including a credit card and its number?
  15. In searching for music and art appreciation I found this treasure trove! It has tons of subjects in science, math etc. http://www.free-ed.net/free-ed/FreeEdMain01.asp Enjoy!
  16. I really want to do something more formal this year for both. We did AP for two years, and while we enjoyed it, I really didn't it specific enough. Maybe the older levels would be???? I want something with Art History, Art Appreciation, and Mixed Media instruction. Any suggestions - ds is 9 and has some natural talent. For music, ds has been playing the fiddle for 4 1/2 years and again, has natural talent. He can read notes, and seems to have natural rhythem. I want to work on similar subjects as in art. History, Learning about and Appreciation of various styles of music, and an exploration of various instruments. I also want him to learn about beats, rests, etc. Any ideas? And free or cheap is very good right now of course

  18. How do these compare? Pros and cons of each? Thanks
  19. Will we NEED both the instructor and student books or is it similar to WWE and can get away with just the student book?
  20. I'm sure I saw one once. I don't know what they are called, but I think I used the paper when we were learning Calligraphy in HS art class. I thought there was a program that used similar paper to teach cursive writing. Is there?
  21. Yay!!! :hurray: Give yourself a special treat for sticking with it and putting forth the extra effort!!
  22. Thanks Carrie, Yes, I have worked on his reacall in various locations. In the house I can almost whisper COME and he comes tearing. Outside he looks only at the coop. I have also worked hard on his LOOK command. Again in the house no problem. I started just outside the door and wanting to get closer and closer to the coop but he just cannot focus on me. I have brought out the "Big Guns" for treats - peanut butter, cheese, junkie dog treats and nothing. He cannot focus on me for more than two seconds. I have been trying for months. As he is now 1 1/2 I'm thinking that I need to do something now or will have to deal with this forever.
  23. It is so hard when they are determined to do something! He is a border collie/poodle mix but we got him from the SPCA and he looks identical to a Portugese Water dog. So we aren't 100% sure. The moment he is outside he is fixated on the coop. He has been around them while they were free ranging a couple of times, and he didn't eat them but he did stress them out. I'm hoping a wireless fence will keep him back of the coop and if he wants to run circles there it won't bother them.
