  1. he's all for it. our families arent. i dont have outside friends so, that doesnt matter (im a sahmom and wife so dont hang out with anyone outside my family and his...) but do homeschool children ever feel they missed out when they get older and have outside friends....school prom? field day? class trips? i know i have such fond memories of school from my childhood, it wasnt until i got older that i wish i was never in school, but i was in middleschool/hs then....
  2. thanks. i know i made her tough it out for a year! i feel horrible, she was HYSTERICAL! but then had days when she was fine! mommyhood can be so tough :)
  3. yep she is 4. and to be honest, i think listening to everyone has brainwashed me thinking i needed to send her to the wolves (public school). listening to her ask to learn at home made me smile. i have to just block everone else. maybe one day she is gonna ask to go to school. but we are happy being together all the time.... someday ill go shower alone, but that day i might miss it. :)
  4. that would be great but i have to sell more things to buy, we are broke! ive been budgeting food money, selling ds;s cloth diapers....so for now ill figure something else out :)
  5. We arent supported in our decision. we sent DD to prek last year 2 days a week for social skills. now she is begging to lern at home. so w decided o homeschool her. im thrilled. but EVERYONE else is not, they believe she will be "more attached" and she needs the interaction and structure in another setting.... how do u deal with this??? its so fustrating. i have her signend up for soccer, but she does need more atteraction. she gets crazy anxiety when i leave, even to pick a pizza down the road! what do u think?
  6. do i have to go in order. dd just pulled took the book Madaline off our shelf and i read it to her the other day. that would be a good place to start when i gt the the manuel as long as i dont have to go in order. i didnt even know we had the book~
  7. now i need a bible supplement and we will be all set~
  8. yep i believe its volume 1. i mnow im thrilled. i think dd and ds will learn so much this way.
  9. yeah the zoo is AMAZING and its located smack in the middle of the Bronx. its only about 45mins-hour from us. funny too, i use to go when i was little and when my parents were young, they grew up in the bronx. my dad use to sneak through the gates to get in when he was a kids. through the cages of animals and all. i think a zebra attacked his friend!
  10. bbbbbmp so SUPER sweet momma is helping me out with the handbook! IM SO EXCITED> now, the books are listen in the text???
  11. so maybe i can add this so my curc....i like the idea of havig the books, knowing they are good choices... i wish we werent so broke. Ive been budgeting from our weekly food money to get what we need, and its a pain. Sometimes i wonder if we are making the right choice, its touogh financially to homeschool. at least for us :(
  12. interestings, .... does it cover ALL subjects?
  13. So, i wont be using it yet cause i think we are set with 100 ez lessons, hooked on phonics k-1, signapore math, hoping for singapore science if i can save money.... so has anyone ever used FIAR JUST for the bible supplement? or is that crazy.? Technically all i need is the guide right? then i can get the books out of the library?? Then i could use FIAR for history and other subjucts?.... i think im confused with FIAR... just talk to me!
  14. i was struggling to get my dd now 4 to learn her letters. after some reasearch i realized i should teach her the sounds. so we started at 4 100 easy leassons....well see how it goes! but i would focius on the sounds, thats what im going to do from now on, with our almost 2 year old as well
  15. So thanks to a Membership gift we headed out to the Bronx Zoo yesterday in NY. HUGE. we only got through half the zoo. the kids had a blast! Just wanted to share since im new hear and this was technically our first field trip per say. Gabriella 4 and Lorenzo 1 (who i wish didnt Potty train so earlycause it was a PAIN) this morning they are watching Lion King to see how many animals they saw yesterday and are in the movie. we really only got through the Asia section and Africa i nthe zoo. we have ALOT to do another day. The kids really enjoyed the nursing animals since they are extended nursers, they found that neat. well enjoy~ (thats me on the camel with DD)
  16. oh i like those....but since we are BROKE! im happy i have legos on hand....seems to have the same idea
  17. okay somnoe better start talking1 i heard so much about the programs
  18. i got all 4 books. im super excited. now is there ANY other math materialy i need fr kindergarden to go with these books/ are they workbooks or teachers manuels? yes i should have found this out but off the rec from here i just went with it.....tell me. im excited
  19. Sid the science kids. he give some good lessons. we watched the lungs one yesterday. so fun! anyone else think hes not so bad for some science fun!
  20. yeah i think its gonna work. and these early lessons i think ill double up. the 10 mins is too short for her.... i dont know. see dd is still 4 she went to prek last year 2 dauys a week just cause, well i dont know really, try to lighten up the attachment issues....i cant even go to the batheroom alone, forget a date with hubby. and it worked, dh and i are kinda keeping the whole homeschooling to ourselves. they dont ask we dont tell. but, she is just a hater i guess....maybe shes jelous i sit down and teach her, rather than let her run woild ALL DAY...just 1/2 the day :)
  21. did you do just one lesson a day? i review, we do, but she wants to do more. the only thing she gets bored with is the say it fast, but i can see how that helps them when they combine sounds and say it fast.... my sil just saw the book on your table, and said "only you would be stupid enough to buy that book", now im using it with my 4 year old, her 6 year old is going into first grade catholic school....we'll see whos reading firsT!
  22. so those who have used it, did it work? how old was your child? did you do only one lesson a day? and, did it take ALL 100 lessons for your child to be able to read? we are on lesson 4 with my 4 year old and she really enjoys it. its quick and she wishes we could keep going, but im agrain to do more lessons. shes learned the sounds m,s,a....so for fun after the lesson i wrote the word sam, and she did it slow then i told her to say it fast and she got it. i could see this working.
  23. awsome idea! i could save thm for the almot 2 year old!
  24. see dd loves workbooks and will do 10 pages at a time, sometimes asking 2-3 toimes a day....so its SO MUCH MONEY~ even printing thefree stuff the ink goes!
