  1. I know....I know....I know! :) I did read through the online portion (specifically the table of contents) and didn't see where it divides out the various pagan "denominations." Is it really in there? ;)
  2. What is the difference between Wiccan, Druid, neopagan and reconstructionist? :D
  3. I just told the kids and was really surprised by their reaction. My dd12 wanted to make absolutely sure we were not LEASING the home, but owning it. When I reassured her that the title would be in our name she gave a massive sigh of relief. I was struck and a little saddened by how much stress she had taken upon herself while we were leasing for the last few years. I underestimated how important this feeling of having a safe "stable" home was to her.
  4. Are there good sources for the pre-reconstructionist Celtic and Norse beliefs and practices?
  5. I understand...even if I wish it were otherwise.:D My family originates in France and I have always been curious about what it was like there Pre-Christianity. I know that it would technically have been a mix of Celtic and Germanic cultures, but what does that look like? (more redundant than really expecting and answer ;) )
  6. Another question....I am seeing that Wicca is more recent "denomination" of the wider pagan practice/path. How does one find information on nature based spiritual practices that pre-date this as well a Christianity?
  7. Can I ask a question about the Elements and how they relate to personality? Also, what does this have to do with Astrology? I know that is vague, but I am curious about those who know which they relate to and how that plays out in their path/practice. :)
  8. We got it!!!! You want the details? 5 bedrooms (although two have been used for a wood shop so will need some work) 2 living areas, open concept cabinish living room/ kitchen with vaulted ceilings and wood beams, wood stove, finished 4 season room that goes the entire length of the house. Porches that cover the entire length of the house and over look the lake, private beach access shared by 6 houses and a seasonal dock....all on two acres with a barn! In two years when we get our Mortgage (owner finance till then) we will finance less than 100,000. I'm giddy. :D
  9. I just wanted to address this, because it is a very important issue to me. I could not sign that SOF, because Jesus is the Word of God. That is one major cornerstone of theology that I refuse to relinquish. :)
  10. Totally get it! Dd just went through and commented on pictures from when she got her favorite little mare. The mare died last Fall, she has a new pony, but that bond is so strong!
  11. See, I think I can fill the Keurig the night before and be good for most of the day. That is really becoming the driving factor here. I am looking on Amazon though for larger french presses just in case. :)
  12. I thought about it, but I am concerned about needing to rinse out the french press. I don't have a bathroom or sink down here. :(
  13. Michelle, thank you for starting this discussion. I have typed up three responses trying to say what the moderator said, but they did it much better. :)
  14. Just ship them to Northern Michigan, we will put miles on them! ;)
  15. Edited: Okay....someone please show and convince me I could make this work with a hot pot and large French Press! Which French Press? For the time being, I need to be able to brew coffee without going upstairs. I am a morning person.....my in-laws not so much. I have discovered that while I am cheerful in the mornings, I have little to no tolerance for grouchiness in others. Sometimes MIL gets a bit moody and I would just rather be able to stay in the basement. The only reason I "have" to go up is for coffee....sooooooooooooo out of this necessity I am strongly considering a Keurig until we move into our own place. (I don't have my grinder anyway so the coffee quality is a moot point.) So, which Keurig should I get? Favorites, best value, one to avoid at all costs? Thanks!
  16. Heard from our Realtor The owners found out that since they have so little left on their mortgage their lender will let them sell "land contract" which basically means "owner finance." The difference is that we will officially have the house in our name from the get go and not in 2 years. This is all verbal at this point and I do not have an official counter offer :( So at this point we are waiting for a counter and hoping for terms we can agree to. Continued prayers and good vibes are very welcome!
  17. Actually, it was almost two years ago. We loved it there, but my youngest son was no longer able to handle heat. We had family up north and dh found a job so we went ahead and made the move.
  18. I have been covertly pony shopping all morning and you go and post this!!!!! Come on! He would love the snow and I have 4 riders just within my own brood. .....then again, I could always ship you the twins :p
  19. I was seeing some that you could do inside. Right now we still have blowing snow, but I thought doing one of those would be a fun way to bring spring indoors. :)
  20. These look like so much fun!!!! Does anyone do them? How did you start?
  21. I finally have a bit of time on my hands in the mornings and wanted to get a little more serious about this. About 5 yrs ago I was a major pilates nut, but I think I want to head more in the yoga direction. Anyone have any great beginner recommendations? Preferably that I can order with Amazon Prime. :) Thanks!
  22. Haven't heard anything today. :( Waiting is the hardest part!!!
  23. We have had a doozy of a time finding housing up here, but I think we have finally found a homeowner willing to do a lease purchase in a house we love!!!! The offer was officially sent out this evening and I really hope they will accept it. If you would be willing to pray for us or send good vibes our direction, I would really appreciate it. We should know something in the next five days. The in-laws basement is great ;), but I would really like to be in my own home again.
  24. I got to go for the first time today!!! I do not think I could have imagined a more perfect Sunday evening. Okay.....maybe if we had caught something. ;) We set out a bunch of tip ups, took turns on the snow mobile and pulling the kids behind it in a sled, built a fire on the lake and roasted hot dogs! It was a blast and the kids had so much fun. In the back of my head I was a little concerned that moving from the heat of Houston to the cold of Northern Michigan would not alleviate my youngest's issues with being outdoors. We knew he did not tolerate heat well, but I have been completely shocked at the transformation that has come over this child. He can now spend HOURS outside and is always the last child to come in from the cold. Anyway, if you have never built a fire on a frozen lake it is an experience not to missed!!!! :D
