  1. :iagree: Every kid is unique and growing up on his own pace. As I wrote earlier my oldest son is not playing with toys at all, maybe except interactive toy and obsessed with books and learning. First, he learnt how to read (on his own, appx at 2.5), then he got rid of the nappy(2 mnth before his 3 b'day):001_smile: My youngest son is completely different, I am still thinking that he is advanced for his age, as he isn't 2 yet, but he knows all abc & can count till 10, but this everything thanks to his big bro, who constantly teaching him and even reading for him books. In fact, when the youngest wants to read a book first he takes the book and goes to his big bro:lol: Otherwise, he's usual boy, obsessed with cars, playing with lego and stacking the blocks and I will try to leave him playing as much as possible. Beside, I believe that all important skills and knowledge kids receiving through their play and that's why splashing lots of money on different toys :001_smile:
  2. oh, thank you so much. I was looking for this one, but could not figure out which level should go for:001_smile:
  3. Great! Thank you to all of you!:thumbup1:
  4. Well, we just gave Innotab for our son's 4 birthday and he wants to download lots of songs, but something new, not nursery rhymes or maybe nursery rhymes but in a very funny cute remix. What would you suggest? Preferbly something funny like spoungebob theme & sesame street as he is on the giggling wave. Thanks!
  5. yeah, but he really builds amazing things out of building blocks and lego, much better then his oldest brother:D we would also noticed that he has an engineering mind, so we want him to interact with this kind of stuff as much as possible. Besides, I've heard that lessons in lego club can inspire a creativity. I am not very a creative person myself so that's why I'd like some help with ideas. But what really, there isn't anything like that out there for beginners?
  6. Basically, my almost 2 years old is crazy about wooden blocks and his duplo. Unfortunately, we do not have any lego club or so for the youngsters, so i've thought maybe there is a book or dvd course, or maybe online resources with lessons or so, for example, which is gradually progressing from easiest building models to hardest? or i am dreaming too much?:001_smile:
  7. Thank you for everyone! I'm so glad i have come across with this forum. Thank you for sharing this info with us. Considering that i am from Europe I had to order this set from over here http://www.cuisenaire.co.uk/Products.aspx?PageId=78 There was one in plastic, but I didn't realized earlier. Well, hope the wooden one will be ok too:001_smile:
  8. i need some help:blushing: There are so many sets of Cuisenaire Rods out there so I'm not sure which one shall i go for? wooden, plastic, mini set, huge set. the same about the activity book, are they still the same? could we use any set rods with any ideas book? thank you
  9. Thank you for everyone and especially Corraleno. We've decided to give a try to Fritz & Chesster and ordered the completed set:)
  10. A couple of friends of mine are taking their kids for chess lessons, so I was wondering what is the earliest age to introduce chess? unfortunately, we do not have any chess classes in our area. Also, would be very grateful if you suggest a good book for a very young kids, or maybe a good website or online program?
  11. Wonderful! it looks very simple but promising, so probably we'll give it a try too. Thanks!
  12. thank you very much for your suggestions. I've had a look at Discoveries in Music and honestly for the price it charges It did not inspire me neither, but will give it another look tomorrow. Regarding Peter and the Wolf-we love it, although listen in original language. I did really liked "The Story of the Orchestra" and will definitely order it, although it looks more suitable for older kids. The World's very best Operas for Kids CD - wow, this one will order straight away, I think DS would love it! Thank you! Also last week we borrowed this book from the library http://www.amazon.com/Schubert-Famous-Children-Ann-Rachlin/dp/0812019954 and DS loved it and now keeps telling about Schubert to everyone, so I was thinking to order all this series about famous kids in art & music, but unfortunately it's out of print. Is there anything similar for the little kids to enjoy?
  13. well, i have found this http://www.doremeandmaria.com/teacher-resources/buySet.html looks like exactly what we need, but the price:eek: is there any valuable substitute for this curriculum?
  14. Can anyone recommend a music curriculum for kindergarten please? DS loves all music, loves reading about music instrument and composers. He is also taking piano lessons and asking to buy a violin for him:w00t:, so I was wondering maybe there is something out there to start from right now? Many Thanks
  15. Thank you. i've gone searching on this product more too))
  16. I 'm thinking to get E-reader for my eldest son(3.5) who passionately loves reading. Which one should I go for? Many Thanks!
  17. :iagree: DS was just like yours. He is 3.5 now and we only have started looking for an appropriate program yet. For his age would recommend lots of reading(especially all Dr. Seuss and Mr. Men Collection), regular library visits, starfall website is a very good one, and to purchase a VReader or Innotab by Vtech or LeapPad. They are great toys for little ones.
  18. Thank you so much for yr reply,The MEP math is great stuff, thanks for that, but I'm afraid the reading you suggested is too easy for him:) He already read his way through Usborne Phonics Readers series, 5th level of Oxford Reading Tree, a few levels of ladybird. Currently he is trying to read on his own traditional fairy tales and stories like "The three little pigs", "Cinderella", etc. So the idea really was to find a supplementary book / material to enhance and expand his vocabulary. Something with exercises preferably. Regarding my husband, he is an English native speaker although that is a bit irrelevant as I am the one who spends the most time with the kids.
  19. Thank you. We will try this out too. I've found these Language Lessons for Little Ones. Has anyone been using them yet?
  20. :iagree: and we do read lots and lots. Books have been his passion since he was just 6 months old. Also he shows huge interest and willingness to continue and expand his reading so I thought maybe there is some good material out there for advanced kids in language arts. He also likes to play at starfall but there is not so much left there for him to learn. Well, would be happy to hear any comments and suggestions, coz I can see my kid is very bright indeed and I wish to keep on feeding his appetite for reading and maths (currently we are learning Singapore 1a) with material that keeps him stimulated and hooked.
  21. what material would you suggest for my three and a half year old son. He can read simple books and texts on his own. Bearing in mind English is not my mother tongue, I would like to concentrate on increasing his vocabulary and proper grammatical structure. Thank you
