  1. Tomorrow is Roentgen Day. Wilhelm Roentgen is credited with discovering X-rays. Every year our school celebrates his birthday with a party with radiology-themed food and costumes and prizes and entertainment.

I found a silicone cake mold of a skull a month or so ago which I thought would be great (we’re dental hygiene so we take radiographs of heads all the time). Wanna preview?

  2. I’m skeptical of other people’s referrals all the time. I rarely do doctors (full disclosure: dh is my dr) cuz I’m fortunately in good health. But secretly, with my mouth shut, I think people go to drs and specialists waaayy too often.

  3. Thank you, Arctic bunny.

What I did was instead of using the app on my laptop (where only one playlist showed up) I used a browser and went to the apple music website. I was able to access all my playlists that way. I don’t know why the app doesn’t work, but as long as I can listen, I’m satisfied.

The ropes are pretty extensive since I’m also responsible for accreditation compliance for the program to remain accredited. And that is a behemoth.

Yes! Our next accreditation visit happens in 2026 and I’m already starting to stress about it! I’m just hoping that there are others at the college who have been through this many times who will have advice for me.

  5. So excited for you! I am a program director at a community college too! (Not EMT). Give yourself a full year to learn the ropes. It took me quite some time to get used to a desk job. You’ll get there! So happy for you!

  6. I've asked on the Apple support page but so far I haven't received a reply, and since I know you are all so knowledgeable on a wide range of topics, I thought I would post here.

I usually listen to Apple Music on my phone. Often. No problem there. But recently I have wanted to listen on my laptop. When I log into my account on the laptop, it doesn't show all of my playlists. It shows some of them but not all. Actually, it really only shows one playlist that I made, but the other playlists are sort of generic (90's music, classical music, etc), playlists that I clearly did not make.

Here's one other clue. My main playlist (let's call it Mom's Tunes) on my phone has hours and hours of songs on it. But that same playlist on the laptop, only has a tiny fraction of the songs even though it is clearly the same playlist. And all of my other playlists (Biking, Running, Love Songs, etc) are just not showing up on laptop at all.

One more clue. It has been years since I tried to access it on my laptop.

Wait. Another clue. I have a Family Account. I am the administrator.

Any ideas how I can listen to my playlists on the laptop? TIA

  7. I really like John Denver. I saw him in concert when I was in 8th grade. I recently listened to several of his songs in a row. I was surprised by how many I still really really like. Even the ones that I feel were overplayed, like Sunshine on My shoulder and Take Me Home Country Roads, I really enjoyed. I’m not a country music person now AT ALL. And maybe some people wouldn’t consider him truly country. But yes, I really enjoy his music.

And for the record, I even loved the movie Oh God that he was in with George Burns.

    Gone With the Wind.

    Them’s fightin’ words!!!

I loved the movie, but the BOOK! Have you even read the book??! (just trying to get into the spirit of the thread 😉) What do you know about Ellen from the movie? Practically nothing! But the book gives you sooo much. And what about the scene in the book where all Scarlett wants is to go home and fall into her mother’s arms because mother would know what to do and what a wonderful relief to have mother spoil her once again. And then…. 😭

I just didn’t get the same amount of emotion from the movie. Oh no. Sorry. The book is better. You’ll need a better example for a movie that is better than the book!

  9. I agree with most things mentioned here. But I haven’t heard this mentioned…

Car fobs that don’t have a key that goes in the ignition! I positively hate them. There is NO advantage at all. My dh has one of these for his car. He throws the fob in the cupholder (or wherever) and then forgets about it because when you turn the car off, there is nothing in your hand to remind you to remove it from the car!

  10. I hurt my shoulder lifting weights back about four years ago. I thought it would feel better in a few days. It did not. I was encouraged to keep using it through the pain. I didn’t baby it. Around the six  month mark, I was really getting discouraged. But then it gradually started getting better. No surgery needed.

  11. I suppose I read the question envisioning a social worker or CPS coming to someone’s home. Extremely stressful for the home owner kind of situation where they were chain smoking out of nervousness. So, I voted to allow smoking for the home owner but in reality, I think a third option is what I would have preferred. Even in the especially stressful situation, politely ask if we can take this discussion outdoors. Bitter cold weather? Might be tough, maybe please open a window. I answered viewing it from the home owner, and they felt like they were already being put in a difficult situation. So, I think context is important. If I’m going in to do PT on someone who is expecting me, is different than if I’m going in possibly removing their children.
