  1. Wow! I am so excited that all of you have given me so many good suggestions. Thanks so very much! WE have a lot of these suggestions but there are a lot of new ones I will look into. Thank you!
  2. Wow! I am so impressed. Thank you! I love older books!
  3. Thank you for all the great suggestions! We will have to get some of these! We also have a lot of the FIAR books and love them.
  4. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for their favorite or dc's favorite picture books. I have three little boys and we read a lot each day. I am looking to add to my library and was wondering what ideas you had. Thanks!
  5. We just purchased the ESV Childrens Bible (the 2008 version and not the ESV Seek and Find) for our almost four year old son. We love it as it has the actual text of the Bible and pictures to go with it. The illustrations are very nice and always gets our son asking questions. We just read about Paul on Malta tonight with him! I had a hard time finding a Bible that I liked for him and this one is perfect as it has the actual text of the Bible. He is so excited he has his very own "real" Bible now.
  6. I am so grateful to you ladies for posting all of this. My 3 1/2 year old son has been begging me to learn to read and I was wondering if these books might be just the things for him. And, if so, how do you use them? Do you follow the lessons on readinglessons.com? Do you use the guide iseesams.com? Thanks!
  7. I was wondering if anyone has compared the new paperback Landmark books with the old hardcover ones. Are they the same thing- just reprinted new ones with same text and pictures? Or are they different? How much of a difference is there? Thanks so much!
  8. Wow! Thanks! I have the Book of Virtues and will look into both of these. Thank you! Free is always wonderful!:D
  9. Thank you for all of the great responses.
  10. I was wondering what books that you all could recommend that you liked or were most useful for teaching character. Did anyone use the Konos curriculum? Thank you!
  11. All of you have had such great advice. Thank you very much! I was wondering about the Cathy Duffy book that you all were talking about. What is the title of that book? Thank you!
  12. Hello everyone- I am so excited to find this forum. I had some questions if you don't mind. How did you handle trying to decide which curriculum/approach works for you? My oldest son is almost four so I do have a little while to go before I am officially homeschooling- although we will be doing Five in a Row next year. My son is so excited and keeps begging to "do school" so we read, do phonics, do some math, etc. but it is nothing too structured. Also, I have begun to read and research homeschooling and I must confess I am totally overwhelmed.:001_huh: How did you decide what approach to use? And then, how did you decide what curriculum to use? How do you know what to choose? From what I have read Charlotte Mason seems like a good approach for our family so far but the Classical Method also seems appealing. I guess that I am just asking for how you figured out what is best for your family! Lauren
  13. We just got the Zoob Mobile for our oldest son who is 4. I don't know if they would be too young for your son but our son loves them very much. Fat Brain Toys has a great overveiw of them so that you can see what they are. Also, there is a website http://www.jmcremps.com that is pure boy heaven and is easy to find gifts on.;)
