  1. I have kind of an odd question. Does anyone know if there can be an easement on your property that does not show up on your closing paperwork/deed? I see nothing on our paperwork or on online information from our county. I am not talking about utilities easement but a neighbor having one. Obviously the recorders office is closed now due to Covid-19 so I was wondering if there way anyway I could find out. I would appreciate your help so much!
  2. You might really enjoy the blog The Perfect Loaf by Marizio. He has really great information and just posted on how to keep a smaller starter. I also enjoy Dan Larn on Instagram. His bread is art! After perusing there, you will need to purchase a lame. 🙂 I have one from Saint Germaine Bakery which is lovely.
  3. I love John Scheepers Kitchen Garden Seeds and Johnny's Seeds and I don't think they have had a rush so perhaps you can find what you want there. I placed my seed order from Baker Creek and Johnny's in January and now I am so thankful. I couldn't believe the rush! We have a greenhouse and have been enjoying microgreens and lettuces. It is still too cold to plant outside but I am excited to start our garden. I am trying a new pelleted lettuce from Johnny's this year that is supposed to be pretty heat tolerant so I am excited for that!
  4. Cuboro or Cugolino...every kid loves them but they are expensive. You can find them online at The Wooden Wagon toy store. Varis Toys makes a similar ones that are cheaper.
  5. Your post was so beautiful! If it makes you feel better I went to a bridal shower two weeks ago on a Saturday and stopped by a big box store for some milk and eggs. I was dressed in high heels and a pretty dress and fancy wool coat with curled hair (!!!) and makeup. I was stopped at the door to check my receipt too. I think it must be a new things as every time I have gone since I have been stopped to check my receipt.
  6. I haven't ever been there Carol. (Actually now I live in Indiana!) But I heard about them from a friend and have been ordering for a couple of years. I used to get my spices from the Winco bulk bins and also grow my own but SF Herb Co is SO much better than Winco. So now I make one order per year and the spices just are so fresh. The shipping is really reasonable but I do just order all my spices at once. And their prices are amazing. Anyway, here is the address on their website: 250 14th Street San Francisco, CA 94103
  7. The BEST ever spices can be found at the San Francisco Herb Co. Great Prices and the spices are SO fresh.
  8. I know there have been threads about this before but I can't seem to find them. Amazon has the 8 qt Duo Plus for sale today for $89.95 and so I have some questions. First off, is that a good price for this? Secondly, would it be a good buy for someone like me? People rave about it all the time so I have thought about it in the past but have never bought obviously. I am fairly frugal and $90 is a lot of money. But, if it would make my life so much easier I would love that. So, I have six kids who like to eat a lot and so I cook from scratch pretty much every meal. We eat a lot of plant based dinners but do eat meat once or twice a week. I used to own a crockpot but never bought a new one after it broke as everything seems to turn out mushy and all one flavor. My philosophy on kitchen equipment (and pretty much everything else besides books) is to have a minimal amount but have the items be really beautiful and lovely to use. I guess we are foodies too as I like to make all sorts of lovely things from various cuisines and I am an experienced baker. Finally, I also my eye on a nice waffle maker and a wooden wheat grinder to possibly buy someday and could put the money I would spend on an Instant Pot toward those. So, knowing all this, would the Instant Pot be worth it to you? What do you use yours for and how is it different than a pot on the stove or oven? Does it make everything taste the same or is the flavor of the food the same as if you made it on the stove/oven? Is the texture the same? What are the best uses for an Instant Pot?
  9. We are gifting Utter Nonsense to my husband's family. It looked perfect for them but I have never played it. For our family, I purchased Carcassone for Kids, Azul, and Dragonwood Here is another recommendation that I rarely see. Last year I purchased Colorku (basically Suduko with wooden beads) and it was amazing. So many people were drawn to it and we have all loved it in our family!
  10. We purchased a beautiful 4 car wooden train from this Etsy shop and it is amazing. We have had it for so long and my son still plays with it four years later. My other son got the firetruck and he still loves and plays with it. I highly recommend Mike!: https://www.etsy.com/shop/mikebtoys?ref=l2-shopheader-name
  11. Wow! You ladies are all amazing! Thanks for looking for me! I will try all your suggestions.
  12. For a while now, I am been redoing my wardrobe and when something wears out I am only replacing it with something I really love. So, I found this jacket/blazer/coat on Pinterest that I really love and I would like to find it (used if not new) or something similar. But the Pinterest link doesn't work and Google has turned up nothing. So, does anyone know how I might be able to go about this? What is the print of the jacket called? Any suggestions? I would appreciate any help you might give! Here is the link: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/123145371045632915/
  13. Thanks ladies! This was really helpful. Perhaps I will wait then
  14. My oldest daughter will be turning 5 soon and I was thinking about getting a historical American Girl doll for her birthday. I was thinking I would find something on eBay- maybe Kirsten or Samantha. Anyway, I was wondering what age you all bought your American Girl dolls for your daughters and if you think 5 is too small. She is very careful and I think she would love it but I really want her to enjoy it. I had Samantha growing up and I loved her so much. Anyway, what do you all think?
  15. We really love these Dragon noodles but I halve the Siracha as the full amount is like breathing fire. https://www.budgetbytes.com/pork-peanut-dragon-noodles/
  16. I really love this dish scrubbers. They work SO well and they look nice too. (Actually, I have a few Redecker brushes and I love them all!) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V3HW4SU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  17. Besides all the healthy things other have mentioned, here is something else to think about. Have you ever done a seasonal color analysis? A few years ago I turned 30 and realized I looked really tired and pale and really blah. All I could think of was that I am too young to be blah! I started doing some Googling and found some great stuff. Anyway, somehow I found out about the seasonal color analysis thing and realized that my wardrobe was almost entirely black which makes me look ashen and miserable. Not my color but I mistakenly thought black was the universally flattering color for women. Anyway, I am a Soft Summer and started slowly replacing my wardrobe with colors that flatter me over the years. I feel prettier and don't look washed out anymore. Ironically I am older and have more kids but I look younger. Here is a free quiz and some color palettes to see if this might help: http://30somethingurbangirl.com/free-quiz-what-is-your-seasonal-color/ I also found some great things on Youtube. This lady is a lot more fashionable and trendy than I am but I still found her series helpful. It really make me realize that I need a basic wardrobe to put together good outfits. Finally, I really love the makeup tutorials from Lisa Eldridge. They are so pretty and flattering and I love that she shows you had to apply the makeup and is not hung up on what brand the makeup is. She mentions that in a few of her tutorials- just find something similar and do what she does. Here is a good one. Additionally, if you are on a budget, I really like The Ordinary products. They are a good dupe for Paula's Choice. Hope this helps!
  18. All of this is really helpful! Thank you so much for all of the ideas. I am going shopping tonight so I will definitely keep all this in mind. Unfortunately we are moving across the country in a week so a lot of the more physical things like cleaning or watching her kids is something I can't do. But she is a friend so I really want to help all that I can before we move. My plan is to make/buy some things tonight and tomorrow, freeze them, pack all of the rest of my kitchen, and then bring everything to church on Sunday. There is a lady at church who is bringing everything to their house so I will just give it to her.
  19. I have a friend who has 8 children and she just had her ninth sweet baby that was born with a cleft palate and a recessed jaw. She made a list of items for our church that would be helpful to her and the first one is "Grab and Go" meals for her and her husband to have as they are always going to the hospital. I know some of you have been through trials like this and thought you might be able to help me think of how I could best help her with these meals. She will have three people bringing food to church for her a week and I am bringing something this Sunday along with a few of the other things on her list. She didn't want any fresh items or anything that takes time to prepare. So, do any of you have any suggestions? I have a yummy recipe for Baked Chicken Taquitos that my family loves and I was thinking I could make those and just wrap them individually and freeze them and she could take them out as she wants. But I was wondering if there is something healthier or better that would freeze well? Also, was there anything in particular that really helped you or blessed you in some way when you went through something like this? She doesn't want visitors which I completely understand but I still would like to help her. She has tons of family too so her other kids are being well taken care of.
  20. We live in a HCOL area and we are squeaking by on $125 a week for 8 people (2 adults, 6 kids) and that includes everything - even diapers. I am trying to be as healthy as possible- lots of beans and legumes, brown rice, oatmeal, apples, bananas, kale, frozen spinach, etc. Meat is minimal. I make everything from scratch and don't buy any processed foods. We never eat out. WinCo and their bulk bins are incredibly helpful. Their low prices on produce helps a ton as well. Anyway, we have been doing this for nine months now as we are trying to move and we are all pretty tired of it.
  21. I have the Lodge 7 quart one and I like it. The only downside to it is that it is a little bit of work to maintain. After you wash it, you need to dry it immediately and then wipe it down with oil. Also, it can't take temperature extremes as that will make the season coat on the pan bubble up and you will have to spend a bunch of time scrubbing it off and reseasoning. It does make the most lovely crusty rustic bread. I have always wanted a Staub but that is not helping you with your price range. TJ Maxx has Le Creuset and Staub on sale in the fall. I assume you want the Dutch Oven for baking the rustic bread. If you want traditional loaf pans, I really love my Emile Henry glazed stoneware pans I bought on sale at Sur la Table.
  22. We will be moving across the country next month. My husband will drive a Penske that is towing his truck and I will drive our van. It will be two long days of driving, a day off, and then two more long days of driving. Anyway, i wanted to find some toys or activities or coloring books or something that will help my kids with the drive. My six kids are 10 and under. I would really appreciate some suggestions! Has anyone found anything that made the drive easier for your kids?
  23. Three words have changed my life- Click and Pull Sams Club has "Click and Pull" and it is amazing. You can order whatever you need online and they will pull it off the shelves, put it in a cart, and then you just pick it up. You can even pay ahead so that all you have to do is get your order and get out. It is amazing! I went to our Costco and it is so insane. You have to drive around forever trying to find a parking spot and traffic is so bad around that area. I find the prices to be the same and Costco was too crazy for me.
  24. Well that is definitely not a Venus Fly trap. It looks like a plain green Coleus but I am not sure. ETA: Lowes and Home Depot sell real Venus Flytraps
