  1. I thought that was what the new Storylands bit of Reading Eggs was for? We've not looked at it yet, as my dd is only on map 5 so far.
  2. Agreed she does have a choice while others don't, but I don't have a choice whether or not to stay at home either... because I can't earn enough to be able to afford to work. If I were working full time in my pre-children (graduate) job, I'd be paying 120% of my take-home for childcare. So whether I want to or not, I'm at home; working part or full time outside the home would be a net drain on our resources, and we *can't* afford that.
  3. :iagree: I've been comparing the old and new samples for B, and the old notes were much more factual, whereas the new ones are far more preachy - which I also find really offputting. I'd much rather a straightforward note that I can elaborate on, instead of getting someone else's potted worldview. I do like the notes all being with the weekly schedule though.
  4. Thank you - these look perfect for my DD who loves reading on my tablet :001_smile:
  5. I'd definitely get a 4-year-old a card - my DD got her card at 6 months (once I was confident she wouldn't chew the books) and my DS at less than a week - they changed the system, and I was able to get him a library card when I registered his birth! We make use of the full allowance on both cards (since there's a 20 book max) and children's cards accrue lower fines than adult ones, so that's good too :D
  6. No! I'm doing a maths degree at the moment, and this year's module on Group Theory had loads of calculating remainders for modular (or clock) arithmetic. A school example of modular arithmetic would be that in the 12 hr clock, 10 o'clock plus 4 hours isn't 14 o'clock, it's 2 o'clock (i.e. the remainder of 14/12). In this case, fractions, decimals and remainders aren't equivalent!
