  1. I like my comb. I use it to create Saxon notebooks for my two kids. I printed out the two blank worksheets and bind them along with an Investigation page into booklets of 10 lessons. Then when the kids are done one of my booklets I assign the tests for the section. I then hand them the next booklet and I copy over the scores of everything into my master sheets. When they are done one booklet, I re-use the spine on the next booklet and then just staple the sheets together and toss into the box for the year. Very low cost, since I'm reusing the spines frequently.

  2. And after reading all of the door-to-door meat stories here I *wish* one of them would show up at my door. Unfortunately (fortunately!) I don't think we have those in Canada.

Hey Sarah, They are in Canada also. We have a local fish farm, they have a tank on the back of the truck with live fish in it. I don't buy from them. I've heard that they select the fish and kill it, remove the head wrap it up and sell it by the pound. Atleast, you would know when it died, since they killed it right in front of you!

I will not clean a fish. Period. So, I have to buy mine all prettied up from the grocery store.

  3. I use a couple of different programs for the kids I use http://www.symbaloo.com/ which I set as their homepage on their desktops.

This is the link to the desktop my kids see each day part of the buttons don't show up in the picture. http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/hopeacadamy

I also use symbaloo for myself. I created a bunch of pages. 1. with links I need for my blog. 2. Link for finding coupons online and the coupon match up blogs I follow. 3. Weather, agriculture stuff my husband calls from the field and asks me to look things up for him frequently. 4. Places I like to visit on occasion online.

I also have a Pinterest board which I use for homeschooling ideas that I've found online.

  4. Fill the kitchen sink up with just hot water and a big squirt of soap. Fill it up with dishes and then go lay down. Leave it for a while to soak. When you come back the dishes will be almost clean, just by soaking. Wash them quick and set to dry by themselves. Drain the wash water, and do again. Taking time to lay down between loads. Then as soon as possible, convert to paper plates and plastic ware.

Can you put some paper towels in the bathroom to help keep laundry down? Take time to figure how much Tylenol you have and make sure there is enough for you and your children to last a few days. No use running out during the night.

When a friend had mono her mom had a hard time getting her to eat. They ended up buying some protein shakes because the smell of meat made her sick. Try to keep an eye on what you and the girls are eating, no empty calories, try to make sure you are hitting all the food groups everyday.

I'm praying for all of you.

  5. Is there a specific order for the elementary Apologia Science textbooks? Or can I pick and chose to go along with the kids interests?

Also, (ok, there are no stupid questions) when do I need to start the H.S. Apologia textbooks? In grade 7 to finish them all by grade 12 or can it be done from grade 9 - 12?
