  1. The comments were wow. Not even going to comment on that.

But I have been saying this new crop of “homeschoolers” where I am are going to be the one who start a downfall or a radical change that is isn’t positive for homeschoolers.  They want everything that public school has without public school. So micro schools and pods have bloomed and not for the best.  The parents don’t want to teach and hand it all off to someone who doesn’t have an interest in education only the money.  There has already been one pod/micro school ( depending on which post she made) that took everyone’s money and disappeared.  It was over 10k last I heard.  Another who would take money and if the parent asked too many questions, they were asked to leave.  These places are charging a pretty penny for baby sitting ( one is 800 a month near me).  They are ruining the name for those who actually are doing it for the kids and not for the quick cash.

have you seen the tailgater?  I have read reviews were the legs were pretty flimsy.  So that is a bit concerning to me.  Might you be able to address that?

    Thanks.

Our friend has the tailgater.   I looked at it last camping trip they did.  The legs don’t seem flimsy to me at all.  He does a lot of traveling with it and it is still going strong.

  3. Ours is horrible.  We used to have a great one than they moved her.  Now we are stuck with the ones who I can’t figure how they have a job.  I’ll get informed delivery so I have an idea on what is missing.  It might come today, it might come tomorrow, next week or the best was 8 months later.  If I could avoid using them, I would. For most things, I get it shipped ups or Amazon or fedhex ( not a typo just my feelings on my particular driver who delivers where she feels).  Besides not getting it, I would really like it if the mail person could not put my mail in his armpit while he walks around my area.  It comes sweaty, smelly and ripped.

    I have complained for years…..

  4. If I liked the house a lot, I might.  But if you think about it with older homes especially there is always a chance someone died in it.  And the cause of death might not be known.

  5. I absolutely love mine. I have a big one as I do a lot when I use it.  Not just meat but veggies and cheese are fantastic in it ( you can smoke cheese for flavor in dishes).  I have baked a cake in mine.  I had a pit boss that I returned in a month when it needed repairs already.  The Traeger is one of my top purchases.

Costco sells its own brand of pellets and that is what I use now.

At least $150. She has to consider her time and supplies. If she wants to make this a business, she’ll want to get insurance and probably a background check. It’ll make parents feel secure that she has those ducks in a row.

People expect to pay more for gig work than regularly hourly work. It’s ok to work for a little less while you’re gaining experience, but once you reach a decent level of competency it’s actually unethical to undercut the other artists in the area. You have a responsibility to learn the going rate in your area.

Part of the problem with figuring out the rate is that in our area this is usually lumped into someone who face paints and clowns.  They don’t teach it either so we have been trying to figure out what a reasonable rate is.

I have no idea how much she should charge per party, but I think it's so cool that your dd is turning this into a business for herself! While the memory of the parties is fresh in the other moms' minds, your dd might want to think about asking each of them for a written testimonial so she can use it in her future marketing efforts.

I really think this could be very profitable for her! I am just so impressed that she is doing this!

Thank you.  The one mom already told her she is leaving a review on a local page.  We are all so proud she is doing this especially with her anxiety.

How does payment work?  Do they run your cc in a hand held device or do they take your cc over to the pump?

    Do you tip?

They take it to the machine.  While tipping is not expected, I have noticed a trend in my area with some of the gas station attendants asking for a tip or having a tips appreciated sign. But I live in an area where a lot of places are now asking if I want to tip on things I wouldn’t tip and most wouldn’t.  Not allowed at Costco or Sams.

  9. Ask what they do with the stuff if it helps with the guilt of hiring someone.  There are a few who try to salvage a lot of the stuff people want to get rid of and give to organizations that can use it.  One near me tries to give as much as they can to habitat for humanity and other organizations in the area like them to help out and keep stuff that is still good and usable from the landfill.

For me-  I hired one company once to help me get some stuff out and it was not worth it.  They were kind of nasty and witchy like they didn’t want to work ( the stuff was all out in the driveway so I had done the hard work), grumble a lot, not careful with knocking stuff over or almost hitting things and then tried to change the cost of the job.  I wasn’t happy with them at all and left a detailed review.  Another company was fantastic when trying to get a relative’s house done.  They were careful and polite.  They would be hired again anytime if I needed it.  Ask questions and if you get a negative feeling about them, just cancel.

Quoting myself to add:  this was actually two people--an adult woman and her father--for a library event. However, I THINK the daughter just came along to help and the cost would've been the same.  They did a great job and it seemed like a bargain! Now that I think about it, they were there for 2 hours, I think, so it was about $100/hr.

    Thank you.

  11. Help us out a bit please-

DD has been doing balloon art for awhile and has done a few free events.  Recently, people have been asking her if they can hire her for parties.  She now has two paid parties under her belt.  The last mom paid her more than she asked telling her that she wasn’t charging her worth.  I know this is really area dependent but we are wondering what you would pay for this.  Her services include 1-1.5 hr balloon art for all and for the older kids at the parties, she teaches them how to do some basic balloon art and origami.

    Thank you in advance.

It’s not the station that makes it fit or not fit, it’s the car. The diesel nozzle is always bigger than the gasoline nozzle. Any car made in the last 25 years has a plate that makes the fuel opening too small for the diesel nozzle to fit in it.

What they do is use hoses not made for diesel. So the hoses are all the same color meant for gas.  The owners are cheap or they don’t care to use the correct nozzle. As a diesels owner, it one thing you have to look out for with some of these gas stations.

I guess it depends on where you buy your gas?

We travel all around the state and have never had any issues. I also don't know anyone from NJ who doesn't complain about having to pump their own gas in other states. I guess we're just a lazy bunch! 😉

I have always used valet parking, so I guess I don't notice any inconveniences. I just press the memory button when I get back in the car and all of the settings revert back to my own, so it's no big deal to me.

Which is funny as most I know all want us to have the option to pump our own. We do a lot of traveling around NJ and this issue does exist.

Well, we (and most of the people we know) drive luxury cars and are very careful with them, and nobody thinks twice about "strangers" touching their cars at gas stations.

The attendants don't spill gas on the cars!

I'm not sure you have a realistic picture in your mind of how this works, probably because you're not used to it.

We also regularly use valet parking and don't worry about that, either. It's just normal.

There are quite a good amount of us in NJ who don’t like having our gas pumped as not all who do it pay attention.  Attendants do spill and I have complained about it.  But I rarely use valet as I don’t like others driving my car or changing the settings.

The diesel in the gas tank has happened to one person I know and we also caught an attendant starting to put a gas nozzle in our diesel.  But these have been old stations who somehow have gotten around upgrading.

  15. This is an odd question but any chance you had something with citrus within a few hours before having the covid test?   Recently, that was asked of DH before they gave him one before they did a test on him.  We asked about it and this facility told us they had recently had a few false positives on patients who had something citrus before testing.  They were sure if it was only for that batch of tests and were trying to figure it out.

  16. Right now-  doctors offices with crappy procedures/policies.  Why both to call me to tell me I need another appointment yet the person calling can’t schedule it.  So another person has to call who is allowed to schedule it yet who then can’t as they need permission to schedule it.  How does this make sense to them?!?!?!?

The doctor who did my DH’s procedure who only talked to the man who was completely out of it from anesthesia.  Couldn’t be bother to talk to me as that is not her motive. Couldn’t be bother to call me let later or just walk out into the waiting room. DH couldn’t remember a dang thing not only from the anesthesia but from a documented memory issue.  It doesn’t need to be said how peeved I am on this.  And since we get to redo this one again in 6 months, I am asking for any other doctor in the practice to do it.

  17. Not saying this works all the time but it tends to motivate some- Any chance your DH or maybe a friend or one of your kids could post on Facebook a “frustrated” post about how their mom/wife/friend is very sick and needs this test but the CEO is the hold up….. Perhaps, he/she needs a little public motivation.
