That's me...hanging on by a fingernail! I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready... Tomorrow, I'm taking the kids to the Children's Museum for half the day...just cause I'm soooooooo ready not to do school for a bit. Break will be all too short!
(For the record, if I just had my ds I wouldn't feel this way. But I'm also schooling a reluctant and unhappy 14-yr-old niece, whom I suspect has some LD. It's not been a pretty fall here!)

The only one I've seen recently in 3D that I think really is worth the extra $$ is Tangled. The 3d effects in that one are spectacular! Narnia in 3D was ok but I bet the "regular" one would be just as good.

They've been discontinued.

I've seen a huge boost in my ds's confidence. The first day he had to run to the bathroom twice to throw up...just six months later, he's wearing a green belt with a white stripe and yelling louder than the other kids. He loves to practice and thinks he knows 14 ways to hurt someone. :-) (In reality, he's not strong enough to hurt anyone!)
I think some of your concerns will depend on the teacher. DS's teacher is NOT a good disciplinarian. Her own children run around like banshees before, during and after class. Other kids take their cue from that and there's a lot of horseplay. I, however, don't allow my ds to "play" during class. He's there to learn--and he's learned a lot more than those who fiddle around. I'd go somewhere else, but we have a great deal at the Y. So for now, I'm putting up with it.

When joining 3 sentences to make one sentence, as in:
When I was a young child, my grandmother has regularly read and told me stories, my mother was (and is) always reading, and my teachers always carefully scaffolded and guided us through our reading.
What is the correct punctuation? Semi-colons?

I had my first in a hospital, my second in a birth center, and my third at home, all with midwives. I would never go back to the hospital if given the choice.
Midwives get to know you so well, appts are longer than with OBs. They are trained to spot problems before the birth. They are also trained to deal with emergencies.
If you haven't watched The Business of Being Born, I highly recommend it.
:iagree:
This is my experience as well. I had wonderful experiences with my midwives and actually got much better care from them.
What matters is what you want. If you have educated yourself and are comfortable with your choice, then proceed! That said, I know how difficult it can be when family is pressuring you to make another choice. I didn't tell my mom I was birthing at home until it was a done deal--she would have had cardiac arrest.
Birth is such a rare experience for most of us. It really should be the kind of birth that you want (barring medical complications).

We're in the market to upgrade our TV/sound system/disc player...what I have could fondly be described as dinosaur-age.
I'm soooooo confused! If I buy a TV that has internet capabilities, does the blu-ray player need to have it as well? Do I want wireless or wired if the blu-ray needs internet?
I think I have my choice narrowed down to an LED TV, running 240 hz (wish Costco and Sam's had more in this category!). Does anyone have a Vizio? Panasonic? LG?
Then there's the wireless router issue...need to upgrade that as well to "N." Dual band? Brand?
Any info you can throw at me, I'll appreciate! :bigear:

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Wise. May you enjoy many, many more!

Go to a Scholastic Book Warehouse Sale....it's hazardous to your wallet.
All those lovely books at 50% off. (A few were 25% off, but most were 50%.) My dd and I, who are both book-a-holics, spent WAY too much money. (And got some great deals!)

Just a note...I love the MTH Research guides! There's always some information that *I* didn't know! We've read several aloud in the car and enjoyed them as a family.

Dragon Slayers Academy (?) I'm not sure about the reading level, but they look really cute. I've ordered a few for ds and haven't received them yet....

As to serving "the other white meat" to celebrate the birthday of a nice Jewish boy, ehhhh, I can't see that as move I would make personally, but....:D

DH loves live theater, so this year I've purchased a membership at a local dinner theatre. Seven times during the coming year, we'll go out to dinner and see a play. (It's not a surprise though...it was expensive and I wanted him to be OK with spending the $$.) I've also got him a copy of the extended version of Avatar, a 3-d puzzle to build with ds and a new coffee mug from our summer trip.

That does hurt...and I'm sorry. I hope another door opens for her.

My son got me one (flip kind) last year for Christmas. He bought it at Kohls and after a rebate it was $9.95. We've had lots of fun with it and some great waffles! I love the fact that it was CHEAP since it's not something we use all that often.

Enjoy it while he's willing! My now 19 yr-old used to chase me around the house to hug and kiss me and rub his rough whiskers on my face. It was a game, but I got to where I pushed him away because the sandpaper on my face hurt! Then he met a girl... Now I'm lucky to get a hug at all and long for the days when he was so affectionate. Don't push him away; you'll regret it.

If you go to the wii website, you can search the games for the ones that use the balance board. The search came up with 45....

My parents met during WWII at a dance the local ladies held for the soldiers. Dad said he saw the prettiest girl in the world, wearing a white dress, walk in the door and he was hooked. They were 2 weeks shy of their 60th anniversary when Dad died.
I should add that Dad was stationed in Florida when they met and so Mom was a southern girl. The girls also had a little newspaper they printed. The headline when my parents married...Barney's marrying a d*mn Yankee! (Barney was my mom's lifelong nickname.)

I've bought several things from Amazon. I love the internet!
Just checked Kohls...went by there at 3 am and said...uh nope, not worth it for one item! Just found that item online at their site, got the sale price, then found a coupon code for an extra 20% off and one for free shipping. Now I'm REALLY in love with the internet!

My dd and I are leaving at 1 to go to WalMart and plan to hit Target, Kohls, Pennys and Kmart. We might stop at Sams for the free breakfast!
This is the earliest I've ever gone...it sounds like an adventure at the moment...we'll see how that pans out!
I'm off for a short nap!

My ds(10) loves the Lego series. We have Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones. He plays Lego Star Wars for hours--if I let him!
Of course, the sports stuff is a big hit as is Wii Fit Plus.

I haven't read the whole thread but here's what helps dd.... Going yeast-free and Miracle Hand Repair. The first is not so easy!
Miracle Hand Repair (Bed, Bath and Beyond carries it--use a coupon!) is a wonder-worker. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Pharmacy--grads are coming out with 4 and 5 job offers starting at over 100K right now.
Nursing or anything medical would be a great field.
Dd9 admitted that she saw her big Christmas gift

My sister used to open her wrapped presents that Mom hid in a closet. The year Mom found out was the year my sister put up a long nylon stocking on the mantle for Santa...and she found a stick in it the next morning. I won't say she quit snooping...but she was more careful!
I was blissfully unaware of all the drama when I was a kid. (And I'd rather be surprised on Christmas morning.)
