    Kolbe is catholic and will teach evolution.  He will be teaching evolution in the next section, so I do not know how detailed it is.  Kolbe stresses for parents to teach their children their family's value according to evolution.   That is the next chapter. Adult stem cell ok, fetus stem cell not ok.  Catholic prayers are said at the beginning of class and at the end.  Students need to do an opening prayer and closing prayer atleast once per quarter for participation points (besides other ways of getting participation points).

    For the exact total for the biology Kolbe class, I don't remember.  They did have a lot of fees BUT I will say their Tech Crew is 100% better than WTM Tech crew which is zilch.  I am at work now when I get home tonight, I will look it up.

     

    Yes, ds mentioned that there was a "shadow" in Kolbe biology class last Thursday.  Was it Mr. Frey? Then yes.

    Yeah KOLBE!!!  My ds is taking Biology with Mr. Frey --- He's the BEST!   Ever have a teacher pull out an ukulele or electric guitar to teach about mitosis or other biology concepts?  How about pull out magically items from his desk to get the point across.....It was definitely the best money can buy for my visual learner like my son.

     

    We also like Jann_in_TX for the visual learner stuff. 

     

    And for writing we like Jessica at Coram Deo Tutorials.

    Polish- how would you teach Polish for high school credit?

    ok, we are Ukrainian but my ds wanted to truly learn Ukrainian for High School, grammar and all.  My language skills has dimished over the years and definitely for me grammar has fallen to the wayside.  We checked out Harvard Ukrainian Studies and found an online course for Ukrainian language at a University in Ukraine.  It will be perfect for us.  But I had to really look...went through Canada resources and Harvard because they specifically have Ukrainian Studies to find what I was looking for.

     

    Find a University with specific Polish studies and ask them.  Chicago, IL is the second Poland in America so maybe a Univeristy in Chicago might have a Polish Department???

    RootAnn - regarding your side note.  [That is a nice size class.  I think last year, the class for LTOW 1 had about 4-5, too.  This year the class size is 2 (my ds and someone else) for Level 2 class.  I need to promote the class more, especially since she incorporates some of IEW Stylistics techniques with LTOW, get the added bonus of 2 worlds.  AND she is a good and engaging teacher!]

    ok, after researching the link from Arcadia, it looks ok for our Microsoft Windows.  But, it sparked an idea to look somewhere else.  I am not positive yet because I cannot test my hypothesis until Monday's class time, but I believe that our problem is NET NANNY.  

     

    It is hard to believe since ds is taking 3 other online classes, all in different platforms and ALL work fine with Net Nanny. :confused1:   

     

    When I disable Net Nanny, I am able to go to the Teacher's Office room, which at the present moment is the only place I can go in because it is not class time.  I will find out on Monday's class time, if this will work.  Wish me luck!
