  1. I'm hoping it's okay to post since this is the topic of this thread; please correct me if I'm wrong and I will delete.

I sell vinyl wall words with Uppercase Living and have a HUGE catalog of pre-designed expressions, as well as a custom design tool (click on MyDesign Suite) with which you can create whatever you'd like (either just with words, or also using our catalog of embellishments). You apply these expressions like (dare I say it?) stickers, but the quality is of course much higher; they are designed to look like finely painted stencils, but without the hassle and mess. We have a 90-day return/exchange policy and our prices are GREAT (please make sure to compare). I can personally help you with your order and would love to have the opportunity to do so.

    Here's a custom a client did:

Feel free to PM me if you'd like more information.

I love the idea of working with a consultant for wall lettering. Several years ago I thought about ordering a scripture for my wall from wallwords. I was so confused with all the decisions - size, font and color. I ended up making a framable print. I would have loved to have someone to guide me though the order process.

P.S. If that is a picture of your kitchen, it came out really cute.

  2. That is really strange. You need to go back and review her work to see if she is making miscalculations or if it is a retention issue.

If it is a retention issue then she needs to study before she takes her chapter test. I am not familiar with TT, but with our math program they do a chapter review before the test. We use the chapter review as a study guide. There are usually a few concepts that need to be reviewed or memorized before the chapter test.

If it is a miscalculation issue then I would have her correct her errors and start drilling her on basic math facts daily. I don't think you need to redo the chapter in that case.

For science we use BJU and I have found that many of the questions on the chapter tests stem from the vocabulary words. I enter my kids vocab words in Quizlet.com, and let them play games with the words. By the time they take their chapter test they know all their vocab words and study by going over their reading notes and study guides.

    Good luck!

  3. Not spinach salad, but since spinach is a top 25 power food here are my children's favorite spinach recipes:

Sauteed Spinach - Saute garlic and 1 T sesame seeds in olive oil in a large pot. Add fresh spinach with a few splashes of water. Cover and cook over high heat for 5 min., stirring once or twice. Add 1/8 tsp. cayanne pepper. (Note> The spinach will greatly reduce in size. I do two bags of baby spinach for a family of 5. Also if you use regular spinach leaves and have young kids, cut up the sauteed spinach before you serve so they don't choke. You don't need to do that with the baby spinach).

Smoothies - I swear you will not taste the spinach in these smoothies. Put 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup water in blender. Add 2 cups fresh spinach and blend. Add frozen fruit, (my kids love strawberries and banana). Serves 2 or 3. (I also add a scoop of protein powder and 1 T ground flax seeds too).

  4. I'm not yet 40, but I recetly started using Bare Minerals and love it. I love their cleansers and skin care stuff too.

I am 50 and use Bare Minerals and love it.

For night moisturing/aging control I use Roc Skin Creme from the drug store:

For daytime moisturizer I use Aveeno Poisitively Radiant Daily Moisturizer from Walmart:

  5. Our family night is family only. Usually Sundays are our family time and we send neighborhood kids away if they knock on our door. It would be really hard to send an adult away though. LOL! I would probably invite them in.

We also have neighbor time usually Friday nights. About once a month I make a taco bar and invite whoever is at our home to stay for dinner.

  6. As long as the activity was safe I would probably do it. I have a small comfort zone in some areas and generally try to be a good sport when something comes up that will push me and my kids. I can't stand the thought that my kids won't try new things because I didn't. I generally would go for the experience.

:iagree: Since it is a short vacation, and the purpose is to bond with their family, I would do it.

  7. I haven't had a chance to read this thread so sorry if this is a dup.

Do you know why he doesn't want to go?

If he is uncertain about the environment then take him on a tour of the school or see if he can shadow a class for a day. Once he gets there and sees what it is all about he might feel better about going. Also, does he know anyone else that goes to that school. If so could set up a playdate and have them spend time together so he had a buddy when he starts.

If he has already spent some time at the school and is still not okay then I would figure out a way to continue to hs.

  8. The times that God has very clearly told me not to do something I ended up in a place of perfect peace about the issue. If you are freaking out, I don't think that is from God and that you need to keep praying.

On the flip side I wouldn't intentionally get pregnant if you are unsettled on the issue. Maybe God does have other work for you to do besides raising another one of his children. Keep praying.

ETA - Biblegateway.com is a great place to search scriptures. You can type in a few words or a phrase and the website will reference everything in the Bible on that topic. They even have an option for different translations.

  9. We did the same thing when we moved from CA to TX.

Some things were hard to unload, but now that we have been in TX for 4 years I cannot think of one thing that I gave away that I miss.

Are there some things that you can pass along to a friend in need? It might make it easier to part with your possessions if you know they are going to someone who needs/loves it.

    Good luck!

  10. There have been a few threads on e-mealz in the past months so try searching on the boards for more details.

I have been using it for several months. I use the Walmart Weight Watcher plan. I like it much better than the Walmart lowfat, (too much condensed soup recipes) and the Walmart vegetarian, (yuck!).

The big benefit is that the recipes are so easy to fix and you don't have to think about what it fix for dinner. The food is good, but not so delicious that you over eat.

  11. Weight loss is 70-80% diet so you need to find an eating plan that works for you. What about Weight Watchers or something with accountability? If you can't find something with accountability then try tracking your food intake.

For exercise make sure you include weight training in your routine to boast your metabolism. Also, I just read an article that stated that while cardio burns calories while you are working out, after weight training you body continues to burn extra calories for upto 24 hours. Yahoo! So you need both cardio and weight training for long-term weight maintenance.

    Good luck!

  12. Sodas are a treat in our home. My kids would love to have soda everyday, but I limit it for two reasons. Two of my children have weight issues and drinking soda daily would only compound that. The second is issue is for their health. I keep reading that what kids eat in their youth effects their health as an adult. There are no health benefits of soda and it is a hard habit to break. Interestingly, whenever I meet someone who has lost alot of weight,

(50+ pounds) one of the first changes they had to make was to give up drinking soda.

My kids drink water or milk during the day and have soda as a treat a few times a week.

  13. We do both. If there paper towels and soap available (amazing how often they are out), we wash with warm water, use a towel to open the door, then use hand sanitizer outside the bathroom. We also use the hand sanitizer after we are done unloading the cart at the car.

We do both also. Wash in the bathrooms and sanitize when we get in the car. I keep a jumbo sanitizer in my car cup holder.

  14. Please mention it.

We have a child in our K class with nut allergies. Our co-op sent email to all parents with kids in that program to avoid nut items in their snacks. They also put a "Nut free zone" sign on the K area to remind the parents of his allergy on a weekly basis. They also requested that all teachers ithat go into his classroom wash their hands before they enter the room.

You leadership needs to know that information so they can ensure a safe environment for your child.

  15. I never give out contact info for other people and I say so.

"I don't give or sell contact information. I'll give your information to soandso if you'd like and if they are interested they will contact you."

and really for the gal you know, I'd just tell her straight out that you aren't interested.

:iagree: My neighbor was selling Cutco knives for awhile. She wanted contact info. for some of my friends and my small group at church. I told her that I would never give out contact info. just like I would never give someone else her personal contact info. without her permission.

She asked me if I would tell all my friends about her knives and I told her I wouldn't be able to do that for her. I did buy two knives though and I love them.

I get MLM invites several times a year from people and rarely see socially. I always reply that I can't attend.

  16. Consumer Reports has a kitchen edition. My mom borrowed a copy from her library for her recent kitchen remodel. If I remember correctly for gas cooktops and ovens the Kenmore Elite (Sears) was ranked number 1 and the GE Profile number 2. For dishwashers the Kenmore was near the top of the list. I would also check out the Bosch dishwashers, too. For fridge go with what you like as far as features, size and storage.

    Have fun choosing you appliances.

  17. My kids love Blokus, Sequence, Scrambled States, Rat-a-tat-Cat (card game), Monopoly and Catch Phrase.

For the younger kids I love the games from familypastimes.com because many of them are cooperative so no one loses. My kids favorites were Sleeping Grump, Race to the Roof and Secret Door.

My children went to a family night at our church and came back takling about a game called Apples to Apples. They loved it. I have also heard good things about Amazing Labyrinth.

For an individual challenge the soma cube is fun:
